While driving through the area between jobs, I stumbled upon this little drive-in hot dog joint and luckily for me, I decided to give it a try. I was in a bit of a hurry and thanks to the staff here for getting me back on the road quickly. It all started with the very kind woman (Patty) that took my order. I can't say enough nice things about her. She recognized that I needed to get in and out quickly and helped make it happen. The place is small in size and big in flavor. I ordered my go-to hot dog, a delightful dog with chili, mustard, and onions. They toasted the bun, which I like. My biggest regret with this hot dog was only ordering one. I will be back... The prices here are average, which makes it a good deal. They have milkshakes here, which I will have to try next time I go here. I hear Martha Stewart likes this place (there are signs, and she is mentioned on the website). Perhaps she should take Snoop here to get some Doggs... Anyway, this place is great and if you're in Fairfield, you should check this place out ASAP. I will vouch for their excellence… On my most recent visit, I met the owner and he was very nice too. The building is historic and has been here for well over 150 years!

Celebrating it's 75th year, Rawleys is a Fairfield County staple that serves up a flavor packed selection of all-time American favorites. World famous for their Hummel Hot Dogs, Rawleys offers a massive variety of toppings including a pretty righteous, "Cincinnati-Style" chili packed with flavor. All ingredients are locally sourced and everything on the menu is handmade and cooked to order. The hot dogs are a wonderful option but don't sleep on the burgers and sides. The handpicked beef patties are well seasoned and perfectly cooked. I enjoy mine just dripping with cheese. The fries are hand-cut in house, and the beer battered onion rings are some of the best I've ever had; great onion to breading ratio. Looking to go all out Americana? Accompany your meal with one of the delicious milkshakes. Rawley's Drive-In is open daily and open for dine-in and takeout. Definitely check out this family friendly legend.

Rawley's Drive In is a true gem of a food stand on Post Road near the train station and downtown district. It is known for its hot dogs, but also has burgers and chicken for offerings. The counter person was bright and cheerful, even though it was around 4:30-5pm, when a lot of other counter people can go blah. He kept his amicable disposition throughout, and was also quite informative. I had the chili dog, which was very tasty, and the chili added a nice kick. The prices were also very favorably comparable to other establishments in the area. The dining area was a two part setup, with the main dining room being a few windows chairs by the window opposite the counter, with a small side room that had a few tables, but highly recommended by signage for multiple person parties. All told, I found my time to be well spent and my experience quite enjoyable.

Rawley's REVIVAL! We stopped in to Rawley's tonight, Saturday, Dec. 4th and noticed how fresh and clean the place was! Then, we ordered a cheeseburger, two dogs, french fries and a fountain drink. Well, were we ever PLEASANTLY SURPRISED! First of all, the food came out quickly. We met the owner, "AJ," who brought the trays out himself. Now, I consider myself a cheeseburger aficionado, usually satisfying my craving at Merritt Canteen, Mr. Mac's Canteen or Danny's Drive In. Since we live in Fairfield, we FINALLY found a great cheeseburger and hot dog nearby! The meat is fresh, and custom ground - you could tell because the burger was so juicy! The rolls are perfect, yeasty, chewy NOT the "cake like" fall apart rolls. Plus, the hot dog top open style bun was buttered and grilled on BOTH sides! What a difference! We ordered the cheeseburger with fried onions (perfectly done, sweet, savory and just right!) and tomato. What a treat! Stands up to ANY of the aforementioned burger places! The homemade fresh cut fries were crispy and a good serving size! The Hummel dog was grilled perfectly, and with that "snap" that you love to bite into! He got "the works," while I had relish and mustard. OMG! GREAT DOGS! Now, if you like old fashioned character and rustic ambience, you MUST try Rawley's! It just doesn't get any better! BRAVO AJ and staff, and we...

It’s odd what a hot dog will do to a person. Some will finish what they’ve eaten, drum a little on the table, look to the person they’ve been eating with and say something along the lines of “Are you ready to go?” or, more commonly, “Let’s both make like a tree and banana simultaneously and both leave and split.” Others, well, one can only say that a deep rage arises from within them. You may not notice it immediately, but they might react testily to your suggestion you drop by Home Depot on the way back home.

This is all well and good, but from where do these passions arise? Is it the nitrates or the toppings?

In my opinion, this is purely a testament to a hot dog’s quality. If it’s good, you won’t be feeling indifferent. The world and all of its injustices will be clear before your eyes. You’ll be ready to take on the world. Why waste time picking up a new monkey wrench today? There are things to do!

Rawley’s doesn’t just sell hot dogs. The revolution...
