McCall's Park Bar — Restaurant in Fairplay

OMG, I love this place! Driving thru town, stopped to stay At a hotel for the night, front desk staff recommended the Park Bar, and I'm thankful they did!!

The bar itself was about a normal size bar, had a good crowd but not over packed, we got an open table right away. People were super friendly, good feeling vibe and atmosphere. What I did notice is that it was super clean, even smelled clean, not musty or greasy. There were some kids playing pool, and others watching TV.

I had a philly cheesesteak - thebest damn cheesesteak I've had in..my..life!! No joke, the steak was tender and juicy - not greasy, the peppers and onions just a but of crunch (perfect) and that nun! Holy hoagie, it was soft and a little toasty, jucrumptious! It was plentiful, and the onion rings were also generous. I also had a vodka cranberry (it's a bar!) And it was well made - not over nor under poured. And the cranberry was good, too

My friend also had the cheesesteak, with fries, and had the same assessmet. The fries were a bit over salty, but again, it's a bar. They were fresh and hot and crunchy.

I'm sad that I didn't realize they had cheese curds until later!

They also had a daily special - pork chops and scalloped potatoes, and some of the folks inside said it was delicious, so if you want something more substantial, there you go...

I almost wish we were staying Ionger so we could eat here again. What a gem,...

I brought visiting family into Fairplay to show them how amazing this town is. However, the bartender Patty was so rude right off the bat. Almost walked out as soon as we sat down, but decided to give it a chance. She acted put out that we were even there and that we didn’t know exactly what we wanted as soon as we sat down even though we had never been there before but just heard from locals how great it was. She proceeded to share how awful her day has been and that she can’t wait to get off. This was around 4pm and she wasn’t off for another hour, come to find out. No specials were mentioned, and when others came in and asked about the specials she pointed to a board and said legit “that’s what it is, and it ain’t that special.” Her attitude was so very unprofessional. I have been in this industry for 15+ years and this kind of treatment towards customers, the snarky remarks, and overall bad attitude is unacceptable. If and when we would want to go back, we are going to call and see if she is working. If so, it’s a no go. She needs to find another job or something that makes her happy, obviously she is not cut out for this industry. Food was good but I do not even want to leave stars unless I can give negative stars. Stopped for some food after a long hike with my dog, noticed that they had outdoor seating so I figured I could bring the dog and have a beer sitting outside while waiting for my food. After standing outside for several minutes with no sign of any employee or server coming out anytime soon (even though there were people seated outside), I poked my head inside. I still could not get the attention of any staff member, so I stepped inside. Once I finally got the attention of the bartender after several minutes I asked her if I could be served outside since I had my dog with me, at which point she freaked out and started yelling at me they couldn't serve me (even outside) and yelled at me to leave immediately. They were far from being busy and I was not near any patron eating, since most of the tables inside had been removed for social distancing. Maybe the bartender was having a bad day, but I cannot recommend this establishment based on how they handled...
