Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen — Restaurant in Fairview Heights

We were celebrating my daughter's birthday she was turning 11 this past Sunday 3/27/22 . We had a party of 6 we were told a 30 min wait not a problem. Over an hour later we finally got a table. Mind this was our first time visiting cheddar's , we asked if they had a bigger table, if not it wasn't a problem we were just curious. Our hostess replied " well this is all your going to get, do you want this table or not. I am not giving you a bigger table, so deal with this one or don't, I don't care". Ok fine we excused this, no problem everyone has a bad day. Then our waiter finally comes to our table after a 30 min wait. We order just our drinks. He comes back with two of the drink orders wrong, no big deal. We order our food 4 steaks, one shrimp Alfredo, and a pot pie. We wait 45 min for our food. He does bring the right drinks eventually. We ordered medium steaks, we cut into them and they were raw and cold, barley cooked at all. Our mashed potatoes were cold and barley more than a spoonful in amount. The potpie also cold. They Alfredo was the only dish edible. We tell the waiter, he gets an attitude and then proceeded to get the manager. The manager argues with us that the steaks are fine and he said he would microwave our potatoes. We asked for new steaks and were told no that they would fix our current steaks. We asked for a new potpie and we're also told no they would reheat the one we had. Our daughter whose birthday thank goodness was the Alfredo order so she eats her meal. Our other daughter was starving by this point so she picked at the potpie while we tried to get this all figured out. We asked for meals all together and got attitude from both managers now involved. They leave to supposedly fix our order. So now after a 45 min wait we say forget it give we aren't paying for this meal. We get up to leave and our chased down by a manager and the waiter calling us thieves for not paying for the Alfredo and barley touched cold potpie oh and our drinks of course. I pay as my daughter did enjoy her Alfredo thank goodness. But my experience at cheddars was horrific I would never ever step foot in that establishment again. My first and last time there. I would not recommend Cheddar's to anyone, you would have better luck and nicer service at McDonald's. The managers were Joe and Chris on Sunday 3/27/2022, at 7:16pm. They treated me and my family horribly. The, yelled and argued with us about under cooked meat and cold food that was clearly not freshly made. I can't tell you if the food was good I didn't eat it. OMG! Don’t waste your time folks! We went in with a party of 5 on a Saturday night. 1 hour wait time, no problem. Ordered a painkiller and a draft beer at the bar while we waited. Took 20 minutes for the painkiller to come out...but still no draft beer 👀 Waited another 20 minutes then had to try and flag a bartender down. Explained still not received the draft beer! Got oh oh sorry don’t know why, then boom beer. Was chatting with the hostess then as we waited. She was awesome! Lovely and so much personality. After the hour wait, woohoo our tables ready! We head back (passing several empty tables btw) and were greeted by our waiter Brian. He was friendly as can be. We placed an order for 2 top shelf long islands, a tequila sunrise, and 2 more draft beers. We needed a minute on the menu so he took off to put those drink orders in. By the time we left 1.5 hours later, we still didn’t have our drinks! The bar was so slow, they were taking over 20 minutes per ticket. Ridiculous! Our food came out cold. We were missing items. One of my guests never even got the coke they ordered when we sat down. Fine let’s just cancel those drinks and leave. Told the waiter who said he would cancel them, handed us the bill, and said he asked the manager to come over. Oh boy, well okay if you want the manager to know how we fell then okay. We wait. We wait. 15 minutes later we were just done! We took the check to the front and asked a passing waiter to help us just pay. She tried to send us back to our table! No! We are done! Then the hostess we loved so much was shocked by our experience. We said we came in a good mood, she agreed! Well today is her last day anyway, so this place is losing the one person worth their weight in salt. Don’t waste your time or your money. Mediocre cold food and you can be there well over an hour without getting a single drink....

I've seen Cheddars locations in various states and always wanted to go because it looks like a nicer Applebee's that's just as affordable. It pretty much was, but I was highly disappointed by the staff, the drinks, and the environment. Immediately upon entering, the hostess was off to the side just leaning against a doorway. I wasn't sure if she worked there so we waited a minute. The phone began to ring and that was when she walked over to the stand. She didn't greet us and went on taking the phone call. After, she had a horrible attitude as she proceeded to seat us, and she made a face at us as we sat down. I'm not sure what it was about, but I've never had that unpleasant of an interaction immediately upon entering a place. I will say that our server was kind though. Ordering drinks was a let down. The menu says handcrafted, but when we asked if we could substitute OJ for extra pineapple juice in the Painkiller or no blue curacao in the tiki drink...it was learned that the drinks are pre-mixed. Once we got our drinks, they were so weak I didn't taste any alcohol at all. For $7+ that is just ridiculous. I would not buy a drink here again. The food was good. My friend had a pasta dish with chicken and broccoli. I had the salmon. We both thought the portions were good and price was reasonable. As it got a little later, the place got very loud. I know this is not something they can control, but the people that came in were making a scene about wanting a bigger table. The workers clearly didn't care about making them happy, and it was disturbing our dinner and others nearby. Overall, I would not dine here again. The only enjoyable thing was the food. The booths all looked dirty even though the restaurant is pretty well put together. It was decent but not worth a second trip. Would rather go to Applebee's for a $1 drink and better...
