Let's start off with a little honesty, I prefer T.Roadhouse but gave in to my boyfriend's requests on LongHorn for our early Valentine's Day celebration. I'm very biased because my Dad LOVED T.R and we lost him and my bonus mom just 20 days apart in October 2021. Sorry...ON WITH THE SHOW!
A PREVIOUS 2021 EXPERIENCE: I'd been here once before and wasn't impressed. The food was mediocre and I just wasn't feeling it...maybe deep down, I knew it would be the last meal out we'd (Dad, bonus mom and I) share...
2/11/2022: COLOR ME SHOCKED! I'm seriously glad I never reviewed them on my previous visit! It was my boyfriend, his daughter, his brother and yours truly for a dine-in lunch during a blizzard in ND when it's -30° with wind chill and the roads are being closed around us! OOPS! The storm WAS supposed to end at noon, to be fair, they just kept extending it! Anywho...STEAKS FOR ALL, PLEASE! My boyfriend got the porterhouse, bro got a sirloin (I think) and the ladies got ribeyes (yes, I'm a lady). I order my side as mashed potatoes and ask if I can get them loaded (not listed as an option on the lunch menu); You can! Everyone but D (for boyfriend's daughter) changes their side to the same. I'm terribly sorry to our waitress! Boyfriend regrets not getting an appetizer after we order; he's really hungry. His salad is quickly brought to the table though so he's happy. It's a reasonable amount of time before our steaks come out. 3 are cooked to the proper temperature (medium rare) but boyfriend's is more medium well (he asked for medium rare; took about 3-5 small cuts to get to where it was more well done than mid-rare) and he wanted more cheese on his potatoes...We get a remake in no time (and he definitely got more cheese). The steaks had flavor this time. You could tell they had been basted while cooking. I was shocked as my last visit, it was bland and tasteless! It's a good tie now....I don't know what will break the tie. Confused on the porterhouse though, we all thought it was rather a thin cut. Normally, they're a nice, thick steak with a pronounced T-Bone and Filet...This one looked like flat T-Bone and that's it! A little disappointed...but it had been a tough morning of phone calls so we weren't complaining. We know where to find awesome porterhouse steaks in the FM to cook ourselves. I could only eat half my food; I have supper for tonight or tomorrow so I'm happy. We did order a Strawberry and Cream Shortcake for dessert! It is delicious!
Waitress was good and prompt! My apologies for the tip having to be partially in cash and part on the card to give you 20%. I rarely have cash but I believe cash is preferred over cards so I tried!
I now believe a nap is in order...If I forgot to add something, please remind me...I'm awful with...
Read moreWe had amazing service by Katy our server and manager Sarah. It is my husband's birthday and we came specifically for the prime rib. After our order was placed and quite a few minutes after our salad, our server Katy informed us that they were out of prime rib and had discovered that fact after our order was placed, she jumped to action right away and offered an upgrade to the outlaw bone in rib eye free of charge for both my husband and I. Upset to have to wait longer for our food but hungry and determined to have a good night, we waited for the upgrade. The upgrade was WELL worth the wait! What an amazing steak! Our server also offered us a free desert of any kind for the trouble. We were impressed by Katy's quick action and Sarah's (manager) willingness to make our experience a great one. Five stars for longhorns in Fargo North Dakota! If you get a chance to go, see if you can get Katy as your server she will over exceed your expectations for sure! Oh and she's a 1st grade teacher! Hurray for amazing teachers/ educators and servers!
Update 4 years later, today we went to longhorn for a date night. Everything seemed well but it took longer then usual to get our food. We noticed a table across the way seemed to order the same thing. It turns out our order was accidently given to the wrong table. My husband and I watched the server bring the food back and we waited in shock hoping they wouldn't just turn around and bring the food back out to us after it had just been set down on another person's table... Time went by and our waitress came out to apologize and describe that our meals had been given to the wrong table, we mentioned that we noticed that. She said she was sorry, that our meal would be 50% off and that the kitchen staff is working as fast as possible to make us another meal. We were so happy to hear of this honesty and grateful they didn't just bring the food right back out to us after it had been on another person's table. We were also thankful for the 50% off. After our meal which by the way was wonderful, my husband had the outlaw and I had the salmon, we were ready to pay, our waitress told us the bill was completely taken care of rather then 50% off, it was totally free. We were pleasantly surprised and impressed with the service again at longhorn. We will continue to come back to longhorn because of this excellent service and wanted to share with everyone how good we believe longhorn's...
Read moreA few years ago I had the lamb chops here, and went in when I saw they had returned to the menu. Last time I was surprised with their quality. The presentation and execution was what I would have expected from a much nicer restaurant. Our experience today was quite the opposite.. We arrived shortly before 4 on a Sunday, and the restaurant was not busy in the least. Our party of 5 was told by a male manager with blonde shoulder length hair, that we would have a 15 minute wait due to lack of servers. We became annoyed as we watched a party of four and a party of two get seated before us while the manager and a greeter did next to nothing. It was a half hour before we were finally seated at a table which had been open the entire time. Our server was quick, polite, and capable, but unfortunately it seemed no one else in the restaurant was. All the proteins came out overcooked, on plates drowned with grease. There were soggy, grease soaked fries and incorrect sides. Most of the lamb chops were a quarter inch thick, well done, tough, and chewy. One out of ten was half an inch thick and cooked medium, the temperature which is the standard for lamb chops, but one out of ten isn't good. They were also smothered with a basic gravy when the description called for a roasted tomato herb sauce. Everything was oversalted. I attached a picture of our pup, who usually inhales anything edible in a split second, timidly licking a leftover piece of hamburger which she refused to consume. I used the term 'dogs dinner' to describe our meals at the restaurant, but she proved me wrong. The salads and Texas Tonion were good. The experience reminded me of why we have been sticking to reliable quality establishments such as Doolittles, Porter Creek, and Osaka for our meals out.
The corporate team definitely cares, however, and responded abruptly...
