New review: We came by a few weeks ago and it looks like they have a new updated menu! They still have some favorites but added a bunch of new items and dessert too! But do not worry as everyone and the decor of the restaurant is the same. My boyfriend and I still love their happy hour options as it just offers so many of our favorites and we don't eat much so it's the right portion size for us. We did try a new roll (we can't remember the name) and tried their new dessert which was interesting! They did check in on us to see how we enjoyed the new offerings which I thought was sweet as it shows that they are always trying to improve.

The employees here are so sweet and remember us as well as our dogs. Each employee we had the honor of meeting have been so accommodating and treat us with such care that no other restaurant in Federal Way. They truly care and want each of their customers to be happy and satisfied. They even offer little treats for our dogs from tofu pieces and boiled eggs. We look forward to what Sushi Hiro has in store!

Old review: My boyfriend and I frequent here almost monthly as they are one of the only places that is open late and have easy to access parking. We love the Galaxy 999 roll and always order it each time we visit! It's just that good and honestly nothing you will find elsewhere. This place has changed in the last few months offering different types of complimentary appetizers and we really enjoyed the cucumber kimchi and peanuts for our most recent visit.

I saw that they had happy hour which is relatively new and we wanted to try some more of their offerings, especially since we're usually up late anyways. I asked our waitress after getting settled into a booth in the furthest right corner if they do allow dogs and she told me that she would ask the manager. She returns with the manager, who tells us that dogs are allowed and we told them that we could seat ourselves somewhere further away from other patrons. Our waitress helped us move to their secluded bar area where there was only one other table occupied and they had two karaoke stations it seemed. As I brought in our dogs, the manager and staff members were extremely kind and welcoming to them. They would give them pets and compliments and ask questions to know more about them. This was probably the most welcoming our fur babies have had! Each staff member we interacted with was super friendly and made our dining experience super memorable.

After the warm reception, our dogs went under the table and were very calm. We got to order from the happy hour: California rolls, takoyaki, 2 orders of chicken wings, bacon wrapped shrimp, seared salmon nigiri, and albacore tuna nigiri. We also ordered our usual Galaxy 999 roll too! Everything arrived within a good amount of time and it was perfect temperature to just start digging as we were starving. The fried chicken was our favorite as the base seasoning on the chicken was so good that it can be eaten plain. However, the creamy onion sauce adds a refreshing but fantastic flavor! Additionally, I got their volcano habanero and wow, this had to be one of the spiciest sauces in Federal Way as they brought the heat. The California roll was packed with crab meat and the rolls were huge! The takoyaki was delicious and we really enjoyed the bacon wrapped shrimp! We enjoyed our nigiri, appreciating the cut and size.

The ambiance here is really nice and it's perfect for date nights, parties, or even company meet ups. The bathrooms here are clean and well-maintained. We love the K-pop that plays here as it isn't too loud and it fits the vibe of the establishment well. They have plenty of seating at tables or bar seating to accommodate all party sizes or solo diners.

We are glad that Sushi Hiro has been around as long as they have and hope they continue to thrive as we are happy...

The hours are amazing, a real draw. The food is what you'd expect. The beer selection is surprisingly small. The service was, I hate to say it, sub par. Maybe the ladies were just having an off day? We went when it was really slow, only two tables were sat besides us. We Got sat quickly but then it took a while for a server to check in for an order.

Our starters came fairly quickly, then the server turned quickly and left. We didn't have a chance to ask for ginger and wasabi. When the server dropped off the rolls, we asked then. And then again when they checked in even, though it was empty & visible at the front of the table. They didn't wait to see if we wanted anything else but turned quickly to leave. So we also had kind of speak louder to ask for more beverages, as the sever was quickly walking away, even though the glasses were empty too. It was then that the server came back and grabbed the empties.

They dropped off the beverages and our dirty dishes sat there.

They came to see if we wanted anything else toward the end. We said no thanks and paid the check. Our dirty dishes sat in front of us as the server left. We stacked them and put them at the front of the table. The dirty dishes sat there the whole time.

I don't think they were super busy since they were chatting in the front at the host stand on and off for our whole visit Chatting is cool, it's the lack of actual service that was not.

I'd go back for the late hours, since nothing is really open that late, but that's probably the...

My wife and I came to Sushi Hiro on a whim on the way back from Seattle tp Olympia. We were extatic, when looking on the online menu that they were open late and had #vegetarian options!!

The restaurant was very clean and stylish upon entering, and the staff was so hardworking and kind. We felt welcome and comfortable, and happened to arrive during happy hour. We ordered several happy hour specials (the fried noodle rolls were amazing!!), fried ice cream, avocado rolls, and two tofu fried rice plates.

The food was freshly cooked, had a tasty aroma, and -my favorite- the rice was crispy AND toasty! We gobbled up our whole plates! The tofu was so warm and comforting, and the veggies were solid.

It was late and the ovens had gotten turned off, so they couldn't do fried ice cream, so instead they gave us two complimentary strawberry sundaes! I was so impressed with how staff handled that situation!! Also, they have genmai-cha on the menu which is my favorite #tea.

We come through Federal Way a lot, so we are coming back. I have already #recommended Sushi Hiro to friends and family.

They have #karaoke as well, so I'll have to check that out!!

I recently placed an online order from this restaurant, and while I received a notification that my order was ready, when I arrived, I ended up waiting an additional 20 minutes before I could pick it up. No biggie. I have to commend the staff for their kindness and professionalism during the wait. They were incredibly accommodating and even offered me water and tea, which I politely declined. To make up for the delay, they generously packed two extra bowls of miso soup, which was a lovely surprise! Now, onto the food! We absolutely loved the Galaxy Express 999 and Volcano rolls—definitely the stars of the meal! Everything was fresh and flavorful, making the wait worthwhile. The only downside was the chicken karaage; it seemed like they needed to change the oil, it had a little burnt taste to it and didn’t quite compared to the other dishes. Overall, my belly was satisfied and I appreciated the thoughtful service. I’ll definitely be back to try more of their menu!
