We were extremely loyal customers, coming in every Sunday for the last year and a half. This Sunday was bad enough that I don't think I would feel comfortable coming back. It started poorly with the hostess seeming to be very frustrated when I asked a question about the online wait list. I was only trying to ask a question for our own knowledge ( I was asking whether even if it says there's no wait, whether we should sign up online when we are about 20 minutes out), but she didn't even let me finish my sentence, and then instead got the manager, which I did not even ask for myself. We absolutely love the normal hostess with the brunette hair, but this was the blonde Hostess and she seemed extremely frustrated by a simple question.
When we were sat down, our waitress Lexi seemed already frustrated from us the moment we sat down. My impression is that she and the blonde Hostess are friends, and that something was said, because when she brought out croissants 15 minutes after we sat down, they were all burnt. Normally they bring out the croissants right away when they greet you, and they're fresh and delicious, but these were very late, and completely burnt to the point of being inedible. I should have taken pictures.
We ordered our food, and then proceeded to wait for nearly 40 minutes. We had ordered an appetizer and when that came out it was also stale and cold, the queso had a thick layer of congealed cheese on top of it, and the spinach dip looked burnt. We ate it because we were hungry, and we were trying to be easy customers without any complaints, and we assumed our food would be out shortly. Our food did not come for another 40 minutes, and when we asked the waitress about it, she said she would check on it and she didn't come back for 10 minutes until I flagged down the manager. When the manager checked on it she said that Lexi had been a little delayed in putting the food in, but that it would be out shortly. Lexi then came back and told us that it would be out in a little bit, and I asked what had happened with the order, and she said that sometimes she gets busy and is a little delayed and putting things in. But what it would appear is it she didn't put it in until we asked about it after we'd already been sitting down for 40 minutes. The food came out about 5 minutes later, and was tasteless and at that point we were so frustrated that we just wanted to get out of there. I'm a new mom and had to take care of the baby and nurse, and our toddler was already ready to get out of there, because we've been at the restaurant for over an hour and hadn't had any actual food other than the appetizer.
While the manager was wonderful, and she assured us that it was not intentional, it certainly seemed as though we were being intentionally penalized for our interaction with the hostess when we first showed up. It seemed like we were purposely brought burnt croissants, and Lexi intentionally didn't put in our order, and honestly that was very frustrating when we show up every sunday, and we have a toddler and a newborn and we're trying to balance our one time per week to eat out as a family of four. We used to love coming to cheddar's, it was never even a question that that would be where we go every sunday, but now I'll have to rethink that if there's going to be that level of pettiness and cattiness to intentionally ruin a meal for a family of four just because I asked the hostess a single question and she got frustrated and referred me to the manager.
It kills me because I didn't even ask to talk to the manager at the start of the day, and if I had never spoken to the manager maybe we could have actually had an enjoyable delicious lunch like we've had in the past. But it seemed like this was intentionally getting us back for daring to ask a simple question. I'm very disappointed, we ended up not having any of our entrees at all, so I'm headed home to eat boxed Kraft mac and cheese that I'll make once I put my toddler...
Read moreI was expecting a lot better quality after reading some of the reviews but I was severely disappointed in the quality of the main meal. The cheese bites appetizer was awesome and the sweet crescent rolls were great but that was really the only thing that I enjoyed. Both of my kids, ages 6 and 4, said that their grilled cheese sandwiches were hard as a rock. My wife's BBQ Smokehouse sandwich did not even have the BBQ sauce on it and she asked for a medium well burger but it was definitely WELL done, ie it was dryer than our napkins. There were also no tomatoes or onions on the sandwich. And for my meal, I ordered a medium sirloin and shrimp combo. And again, I received a very WELL done slab of dry meat that I did not consider to be sirloin quality. I am pretty sure the cook used another person's steak to add juice onto my plate to make it look like it was juicy, because there was not a drop of moisture in my sirloin. I also ordered a side of Southern green beans which was supposed to have pork/bacon mixed in with it. I had one very tiny piece of bacon in the whole bowl. Also, the green beans had a very strong preservative flavor, so I am pretty sure they came from a can. And to top it all off, I ordered a Presidente Sangria. I ended up leaving half of my drink on the table when I left because it tasted like they used a wine bottle that had been sitting in the sun all day long. The only good part of my evening was our waitress. She was very pleasant to talk with and always made sure my family's drinks were filled. And as far as the bathrooms, I would have to agree with multiple of the comments made prior. The bathrooms had trash all over the floor, the sinks were extremely dirty and their maintenance is extremely lacking which was evident by multiple lights being out in the male bathroom. My wife and daughter used the family bathroom, which my wife told me it smelled like urine. The only reason I gave this review a 2 star rating was because of our waitress. Needless to say, I will not be visiting this...
Read moreNormally love this place. My brother sent back an order 3 times and asked to speak to the manager (Ryland.) He ordered steak medium, and was raw 2 times after sending back. I was surprised to see the manager did not come up in any polite acknowledgment. My brother was very polite but direct about the steps on what the issue with the order was, and that it did not meet food safety regulations So he requested after the 3rd time that he didn't want it anymore. Ryland responded rudely "we do not put the steak on the grill we put it back in a convection oven" As food safety management ourselves, we know that it is health code violation to take food back when it's been served and cut into with a customers used utensils. However, Ryland responded with a very rude "Whatever you guys say" He didn't apologize and he very rudely walked away while spelling his name out letter by letter when asked his name I believe the leadership quality and hospitality should definitely be reconsidered. The waitress, was okay she was very nice but dissappeared very quickly. She did have good customer service and was apologetic to try and fix the issues after the second time being sent back. We were told my brother would not be charged for anything he ordered
After paying, the manager yelled at all of us stating we had to pay for my brothers meal after we were told otherwise, and followed us to our vehicle over a $1 payment and was going to take our license number to call the police. My husband paid the dollar, but this was very poor service. We are extremely disappointed and never had an experience like...
