Pho VN Cuisine — Restaurant in Fishers

So far pho Thai Nam they have is the best in Indianapolis area. Today is my first time visit and I will come back if they keep the flavor of the soup. And Pork Bahn Mi I had is the one of the best bahn mi in past 6 months.

Today is Sep. 25th, 2018. We went to Pho VN again. We ordered one large pho with brisket, one large pho with chicken, one regular pho thai nam, one pork and shrimp dumplings. As I expected, all the pho was delicious. I am glad at least one awesome pho shop is in Fisher. Oct. 19, Sung’s Birthday 6 of us are here one more time. Everything we ordered was so good, fresh meats, fresh bean sprouts, and playing Fake Love of BTS. 12/7/18 I ordered grilled pork with fried rice and it tasted fabulous. My wife and son ordered large Pho Thai. They liked as usual. 1/17/19 We ordered 2 Pho Thai Nam, 1 extra large Pho, 1 pork and rice and 1 fried chicken wings for appetizer. Our order came exactly as we ordered and they were very good as always. 02/25/19 Tried Bun VN special, it was so good. Same as my pho thai man and grilled pork with fried rice. Everything was so good. 4/27/19 We ordered 2 Pho Thai, 1 Pho Thai Nam, and 2 Nem Nuong Cuon. Everything was very delicious and had a great time. 5/19/19 We ordered one Pho Thai, one Pho Thai Nam and one xtra large Pho Thai Nam, one lemon grass chicken. They never disappointed me. Pho VN Cuisine looked to be a busy Viet restaurant in Fishers so we decided to come here for lunch. The dining room is large and the service to get your food was fast. However, I was disappointed with the service during my meal. Our server did not check on us at all during the meal to see if we needed anything. We had to flag someone down to ask for napkins which there were none at our table.

I ordered the pho with NY steak. I guess I imagined it different as I pictured having flavorful grilled steak slices over the pho. Instead it was thinly sliced like the normal flank or round steak that would come with your pho. The pho was hearty and the broth was tasty. However, the steak had an odd taste that I could not describe. I think that grilled steak slices over the pho would be a lot better.

I also upgraded to the large bowl of pho for $1 more, which was worth it. The portion size was generous, however after the meal I was super thirsty. I am concerned about the amount of MSG or salt in the pho.

Overall, I give Pho VN Cuisine 3 stars. The food was good, but the service was lacking and the pho with NY steak had an odd taste with the meat.

Service pretty good/attentive. Now about pho itself - you gotta like it. i'd say pho is pretty bland from the get-go and you have to realize it. It's almost like ramen soup with virtually flavorless broth and 2 or 3 other ingredients depending on what you order. Now, is the broth what? Not a strong chicken nor beef flavor/aroma - honestly to me not much more than boiled water. Even after adding other ingredients. You have to flavor the broth yourself, hoping you know what you want to use. Is this pho gold standard? I don't know but in my book it's not even bronze level but hey I'm not a pho expert. Based on this being my first ever (and only) pho restaurant experience - would I put pho on my go-to list of dishes - absolutely not. My home cooked ramen noodle with flavor packet has a better out of the box product than restaurant pho, presuming this restaurant's is representative of the cuisine. Been at this restaurant twice.
