This review is solely for the Tiki dinner event that was held on 7/20.
My husband and I attended together, this was our first event to attend at Quivey's Grove. Overall we VERY much enjoyed our evening! But there were a couple of points to work on too.
Positive: The food was GREAT, they cooked an entire pig for the Tiki dinner which was very impressive! Also, the potato salad was the best I have ever had. Chef, I will beg on my knees for that recipe, please. It was amazing. The side contests were super fun! The provided live music was AMAZING and the musician even gave me one of his CDs after providing a tip, which was unexpected and appreciated. Very talented guy. We got THREE free drinks and they were all VERY good and strong! Three cheers for State Line Distillery, they were the star of the show tonight. The bartenders were super cheerful and fun to talk to, we will be sure to go visit their distillery soon. I won a bottle of their coffee liquor and it is DELICIOUS.
Negative: The beautiful live music sadly wrapped up at 7pm, even though the event was slated to go until 9pm. We would have stayed until the end just to listen to him play, and once he left the vibe of the event quickly diminished. A clear schedule of events would have been appreciated beforehand. IE: what time food would be served, the hula hoop contest, music duration, etc. We didn't really have any idea of what to expect or when we should arrive so we wouldn't miss anything. Some folks showed up at like 6:30 and all of the food was already gone. When an event is scheduled 4pm to 9pm that leaves a lot of guessing. I actually wish the tables had been placed slightly closer together for a more communal feeling. My husband and I felt kind of isolated with no one to talk to because we were all spread so far apart.
Overall our experience was good, and we look forward to attending future...
Read moreUnplanned, we ended up on a double date here last night at the Stable Bar & Grill yesterday. For those of you are not familiar, Quivey's has an upscale restaurant in the historic landmark house and then they have the stable bar and grill that is more casual right next to it on the same property. Additionally, there is a cool tunnel that joins the two if you want to get a drink at the bar and walk under to the nicer restaurant.
Last night, we went bowling at Ten Pin Alley, right next door, and decided to get a drink. Well, a drink turned into dinner. We were seated right away in this cool, restaurant in an aged old stable. We ordered drinks with our waitress and when she returned with them, we ordered our meals. My boyfriend and I, ordered an order of fried pickles to share as an appetizer and then also wanted side salads before our meal. The waitress brought the pickles, salads AND their free bread all at the same time. It was really overwhelming and in poor taste. We all received our entrees and they were good, but i felt really overpriced (entrees are $17-$25) for the quality we received. My boyfriends $20 pork chop, was nearly all fat. I ordered the trout, that was good, but they put so much garnish under the meal, that i actually had to work to remove the trout from the garnish to eat it. Additionally, at the end of our meal, the waitress split our bills. We didn't' even look at our receipt and sent back our credit card right away. Well, our friends got charged for our salads and when she came back with our card, we told her. Instead of just letting it go, she asked for our card back to charge us for her mistake. Now, we are anxiously awaiting a double charge from this restaurant.
I feel bad writing such a poor review. I have eaten at the main restaurant, and it was a memorably...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I recently visited the Stable Grill at Quivey's Grove on a wintry Friday evening to indulge in their famous fish fry, and we were far from disappointed! I ordered the fish fry combo, which allowed me to sample all three of their mouth-watering fish selections - beer battered cod, baked cod with lemon dill mustard butter, and pretzel-crusted whitefish. Each dish was cooked to perfection, offering a symphony of flavors that left us wanting more.
The Stable Grill's rustic ambiance, reminiscent of a dressed-up barn, perfectly complemented the mood of the place, making us feel cozy and welcome. It's important to note that this particular restaurant does not take reservations, and during popular dinner times like the Friday fish fry, it can get quite busy. We arrived just before 5 pm and were lucky to get seated before the place filled up. For a more upscale dining experience with reservations, you can visit The Stone House, while The Paddock caters to outdoor dining and events.
Despite the potential for a wait, the Stable Grill is well worth the visit. I even attempted to return with my parents on a Friday in April, but was greeted with an hour and 15-minute wait time at 5 pm. Nonetheless, the delicious food and fantastic atmosphere make it well worth planning ahead or waiting if necessary.
To top off our delightful experience, the service was impeccable. Our server demonstrated a deep knowledge of the menu and an unwavering commitment to customer satisfaction, further enhancing our dining experience. I would not hesitate to return to the Stable Grill and highly recommend it to anyone seeking a delicious meal in a charming,...
