Today, we had the worst experience at a we have ever had at Bob Evans, right up to when we were finally seated after a 45+ minute wait to be seated in a restaurant that was virtually empty. Once we were seated we had excellent service and food that was promptly served by cheerful and helpful staff.
We arrived between 10:00 and 10:15. There were seven or eight parties in front of us. We were told 20-25 minute wait. We assumed the restaurant was as full as possible under COVID protection conditions. When we checked with the hostess 40 minutes later, we were told there were still two parties of two ahead of us. We also heard the hostess tell on of the parties there was only one cook.
We were seated within 10 minutes of checking our position on the list. There was almost nobody seated in the restaurant. There were lots of bags of food for carryout on the counter. We checked and there was not one but three people cooking. There were several wait staff running around between the takeout bags and taking care of the few patrons who had managed to be seated. Several dishes with food were waiting in the window, three of which sat there the entire time while we ordered, ate, paid and left. There was no visible reason why we could not have been seated shortly after we arrived. There were very few patrons in front of us. Every customer waiting was talking about how long they had waited.
As soon as we were seated, our server came came to the table, took our drink and breakfast order. She returned with drinks and within seven or eight minutes, we had fresh hot food on the table.
We have waited for 45 minutes at different Bob Evan's before, watching the staff bustling from table to table and steady stream of customers coming and going the entire time we waited. We have never sat inside with no sign of activity in the dining room other that people coming in the side door to pick up their takeout order.
When we checked out, the same hostess took our ticket, rang up the bill and did not return the ticket so we have no record of store number, times or ticket numbers. It is hard not to believe this was not on purpose.
Kudos to our unknown server and shame on the rest...
Read moreWe were on our way to Orlando, and decided to stop at this Bob Evans since it's conveniently located across from I-4.
We waited close to 30 minutes to be seated, after being seated we waited another 10 minutes before we were acquaintanted with our waitress ...and/or our drinks/order taken.
Time passed...as me and my family talked amongst one another, 20-25 minutes had passed and we still did not have our food. We ordered breakfast and I had a simple salad. We had waited so long between the wait and our food that we just about lost our appetite to eat.
Finally, our food arrives...and I have the longest piece of curly hair in my food (attached photo). I almost threw-up as I had dug my fork into the salad to eat.
I inform the waitress, when she arrives to the table I show her the strand of hair... Immediately her eyes look directly at my hair as to insinuate I would place my own hair in the food.
Next, when she realizes they're two different textures...she then zooms her face into the plate that was placed directly in front of me... So in essence, her face was in my face.
To be honest I was flabbergasted, if she wanted to better examine the strand of hair and create her own hypothesis - she should've removed the plate from the table and examined it in the back.
To add insult to injury, she didn't even apologize for the mishap - she removed the plate and asked if I wanted another - I immediately replied - no thank you.
My daughter ordered fries and a hamburger and her fries were hard and burnt. We requested new fries and they came out the same way. When we received our final receipt we were charged twice for fries... unbelievable.
This by far is one of the nastiest, and unclean Bob Evans restaurant I've ever been to. I understand staff is overworked due to the lack of staff available - but at the end of the day... If you decide to continue with running a business, and you take money from a customer that means you agree to provide the service they paid for.
I was highly disappointed with this Bob Evans and I will not be back, nor will I recommend any of my friends...
