Disappointing Visit to Bholay – Not What I Expected!

After a lovely shopping trip at Whole Foods, I decided to try out Bholay for dinner. I noticed the staff wearing shirts that said “Smiling makes a difference” — which I thought was a cute touch. But ironically, that’s where the good vibes ended.

I was served by a young white woman and a young Black man, both of whom looked visibly unhappy. I smiled at them and even asked, “Why aren’t you all smiling?” — but got nothing back. Not even a polite nod. The mood felt tense and unwelcoming, and it really set the tone for the whole visit.

I ordered a bowl with salmon and had to wait about 10 minutes — not a huge deal, but with the cold atmosphere, it just added to the frustration. I ended up telling the young woman that their service wasn’t great and that they all looked so angry, which made me seriously regret stopping by.

By the time I walked out, I was annoyed and disappointed. I was hoping for a friendly, quick dinner, but left feeling the exact opposite. Definitely not the kind of energy you want after...

PETITION BRING BACK TYLER: I recently visited Bolay and had a pleasant experience. The restaurant had a cozy atmosphere and was clean and well-maintained. The staff was friendly and attentive, making sure to check on us throughout our meal. The food was also delicious, with generous portions and fresh ingredients. However, I was disappointed to learn that Tyler Rohrer, a former worker at the restaurant, was no longer employed there. Tyler was always a standout employee, going above and beyond to ensure that customers had an enjoyable dining experience. He was knowledgeable about the menu, attentive to details, and had a warm and friendly demeanor that made customers feel welcome. I believe that rehiring Tyler would be a great benefit to the restaurant. His work ethic and customer service skills are top-notch, and he has already established a loyal following among regular customers. We love Bolay, this particular location is brand new and as always the place is clean, they have friendly staff that greets you with a smile and it's ready to take your order. If there's anything you want to try they give you a sample. The ingredients are freshly made and cooked to perfection my bowl is simple yet satisfying. I order the regular bowl and since I don't get a base I get to add 3 portions of veggies so I do 2 sides of Brussel sprouts, a side of Broccoli and the MOJO pork wich is so juicy and flavorful just writing this and my mouth is watering. To top it I like to add freshly cut cilantro and the pesto sauce. Without adding a tip it comes to be about $9.74. But always remember to tip your servers 🤗 on this location I also notice that they write little messages on the lid. That's cute 😍 we will continue to eat here and enjoy our Bolay.
