I was horribly disappointed last evening. We had family in from out of town and decided to go to Jax (they could accommodate all 16 of us including children). I hadn't been there in 5 or 6 years, but remembered that the food was REALLY good. Well, last night is was nasty. I ordered their Beef on Weck...The item is described as follows...Thinly sliced roast beef and Swiss with our horseradish sauce served cold on a toasted salted kaiser bun. Well anyone who knows what a Kummelweck roll is or even a Kaiser roll will be as disappointed as I was. I could have lived with a true Kaiser bun with coarse salt and caraway seeds on top of it...this bun was NOT toasted and had so much crushed coarse salt on it that is was barely edible. The entire top of the bun was completely covered in salt and no caraway seeds. I guess I should have known better than to order something popular in Western New York in a Florida restaurant. I also ordered onion rings...years ago they were beer battered, hand made and were delicious! Last night I got something out of a bag, previously frozen, that were cooked so long they nearly broke my teeth, and this was after the waitress assured me that they were the same as they had always been...NOT. Their only redeeming quality was that the onion was at least not minced. Burger King onion rings have more flavor than these did.
My son-in-law ordered a burger and asked that it be cooked medium well. It was more like well/overdone, dry and more like shoe leather. The burger was very difficult to bite into. Their fried dill pickle spears were no better than the onion rings...cooked way too long and out of a bag of previously frozen and breaded pickles. The only thing that came out of the kitchen that I would consider edible were their chicken wings. The service was acceptable, I expected a long wait with the amount of people that we had in our party, but I did not expect that half of us at the table would be served cold food. I feel that the only reason that service was acceptable was there were only a handful of others in the establishment. We pretty much had the entire place to ourselves. At one point the waitress brought me my check, I placed my payment in the folder and told her I did not need change. When she returned she informed me that she had made a mistake on my check and that the amount was now higher than it had previously been. She had neglected to include my drink on the first check. Needless to say, we will not be going back...ever. UNLESS by some miracle they actually find a real cook and better...
Read moreAs everybody know I love to go out to restaurants in eat and try new places as well. I kept resisting for 9 months straight I kept getting offers at this location then I kept putting it on pause so today was the day where I said I will try it I got there at 6:58 p.m. And the waiter set me down right before happy hour was about to end she got my drinks I put my food order in and then waited as I receive my drinks the drinks came a couple of minutes later but then the tables have turned when all of a sudden I was talking to my girl and stated that it's only us along with two other people as dining in I'm noticing it's taking over 30 minutes for food to come out then they said we should say something I said I will say something if and when it turns 40 minutes. Now it's currently 47 minutes and did not get offered any water but only the drinks that we initially got at 7 p.m. which was liquor. When you go to a restaurant majority Foodies that I know will sit at a restaurant and the waitress will come to you within every 5 to 10 minutes and say is everything okay would you like water I did not even get that offer I sat there for 47 minutes until I complain and said where is our food. 52 minutes has now pass and then that's when we receive water after I asked multiple times. It's funny after a few minutes lateralso that's when the food came out that is ridiculous it should not take over 50 minutes to receive food especially at a place that does...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I went at 10 pm 2 hrs before they closed. Most people were outside and it seemed that there were a couple servers on so we were optimistic. After some time went on we realized that only one server was taking tables and the rest were doing side work before they left. Our server was nice but because she was taking all the tables wasn’t able to really do much more than take our orders, refill our drinks, and drop our check.
We got potstickers as an appetizer getting both teriyaki and soy sauce. They were apparently mixed together which made them SUPER salty without a whole lot of that teriyaki flavor. My boyfriend got the Jax burger cooked medium with onion rings for his side instead of fries. I got a plain cheeseburger with provolone cooked medium well with a side caesar salad. His burger ended up being cooked medium well and mine was well done. It was dry and I was only able to eat about a quarter of it before I let my boyfriend eat the rest. While it is my fault for forgetting to get my caesar dressing on the side for my salad, it came drenched. The lettuce was soggy, and I took a couple bites before I couldn’t eat any more of it.
From the reviews it seems like the service is great during the day for the lunch shift. Unfortunately our visit wasn’t how we expected and left unsatisfied and a little disappointed.
I hope I can come back another day for the lunch shift and...
