Specialty coffee. If you know exactly what it is and prefer it when drinking coffee, then when in St Augustine, Relámpago is your place.

A small-medium sized space with limited indoor but more generous outdoor seating, Relámpago achieves the essence of specialty coffee. They have a few food offerings (muffins, strata, etc,) but really, go for the coffee. Their pour-over options are varied and always excellent as is also their regular blend "quick cup; " served from a carafe, this is no "been setting around for an hour" product, it is fresh, hot and of excellent quality and flavor.

You absolutely cannot go wrong with the coffees on offer here. The caveat: If there's a line, be prepared to wait; it can take a bit until you place your order and a bit more until you get it. But then, patience IS a virtue after all!

If you're reading this and don't have a clue about what 'specialty coffee' is, then go down to Relámpago when in St Augustine, and have a cup. Maybe the first real cup of coffee you'll have. After that, check out local (not big name chains), coffee houses in...

A café went woke. Walked into the cafe at 9 am. Shelf was almost empty, only left with unappetizing leftovers. Ordered a simple cup of coffee and sat down at a corner. A unclean looking man walked in with half of his bottom showing with unpleasant smells and was asking to refil his water. He also used the bathroom. At this point, it was still fine, and then he started shaking his smelly jacket around where I sat, which made the smell even worse. It seems the staff was not bothered by his presence, which I do understand if he is a regular asking for water. But for a new customer like me, I found it unpleasant since it showed zero awareness of...

We stopped into this cute little coffee shop to get a warm drink on a pleasant, chilly day. I ordered a pumpkin spice latte and my boyfriend got hot cocoa. The latte tasted really good and hit the spot. It wasn't overly sweet either which I enjoyed. It was a little grainy when I got towards the end of the drink, but I still liked it. My boyfriend enjoyed his hot cocoa also.

The shop itself is small, but it's cute and feels welcoming. They had a lot of coffee options and also do pour ins with different types of coffees which sounded interesting. They had some yummy looking sweets and small bites in a case also. I found it to be a nice, local...

We made a pit stop at Relámpago during our return to Miami. The cappuccinos were exceptional, and the place was really cute. Unfortunately, in our enjoyment, I completely forgot about our diaper bag, with valuables inside. It wasn't until we were four hours away that we realized it was missing. Despite the long shot, we decided to call the coffee shop. To our immense relief, not only did they find our bag but they also went above and beyond. They shipped it to our destination in Miami at no cost, and even included a bag of their exquisite coffee labeled "Reliable," a fitting tribute to their outstanding service and compassion.

(hours are wrong, I'm here on a Saturday and they close at 6pm. Door hours in 2nd pic) There's no shortage of coffee in st. Augustine but there's a shortage of *weird coffee person* coffee shops. This is a real cafe. I had an espresso and they paired it with lacroix. They were pulling shots with a house blend of honduran, guatemalen, and indonesian coffees. This made me so happy. They do some premium pour overs too, and they sell specialty single origin and blends too. The spirit of James Hoffman rests on this establishment.

Popped in for a coffee and slice of cake. We ordered 2 Cafe Con Leiche's (which both my wife and I saw written on the board by the register!!) and they were nothing like the authentic Spanish coffee which we regularly drink in Spain. For comparison, if you compared them to a latte, we much prefer the stronger ones you get in Starbucks. At that time a cortado was also written on the board. The cake was delicious though and there is a very nice seating area at the back.
