Kernel Poppers — Local services in Saint Augustine

I have been coming here for 7 years, and I won't step back in to this shop again. The older gentleman that works there is amazing, however, I took my family from Canada there on April 15, 2023 at 7:30-8:00 and I honestly have never experienced that type of bad service in my life. I walked in with my family and asked the first lady what was her favorite popcorn who by the way didn't acknowledge me or my family. lol and she didn't say anything, just went and grabbed one and gave us 3 pieces for all of us to share. I kept trying to talk to her about the popcorn and she just would not even speak to me. I said to myself alright, I will go down and ask the other ladies to try some and see if they will actually speak. I can't believe I am saying this, but its worst. I asked the lady to try the marshmallow popcorn and she LITERALLY ROLLED HER EYES. LOL I could not believe that. She gave me 1 piece of popcorn for me and my entire family. I said to them I will just go somewhere else because no one has even spoken to us, smiled at us, or even seemed like they wanted us there. We went across the street to the shop and the guy overheard me talking about it and said several people had come in that night complaining about all three of those ladies at Kernel Poppers. I pray that you have cameras up and you can see the entire interaction. I don't wish for anyone to lose their jobs, but I will say this, you are going to lose customers with service like that. I am still in shock today thinking about it because I have never had a bad experience in there until now. Sucks, but oh well. They have other shops like this that I can go visit or order online. Not getting my business anymore. I wish I would have gotten their names, but I posted the day and the time so you could reference...

In St Augustine visiting the city with friends. A small walkway with lots of stores selling everything from food and jewelry to T-shirts and antiques. Then the smell hit the four of us! Popcorn! Wonderful aroma beckons us. Now I have always loved popcorn. When we go to a movie I either skip lunch or dinner and have two (2) buckets of popcorn!

We walked inside and stood astonished at a huge wall of giant popcorn containers. So many choices! The staff must have chuckled at our open mouths. We were welcomed and offered samples of different flavors. We tried a lot of them and I could have stayed there but have tours to take. Our friends bought three small bags to take back to our resort at Daytona Beach.

My wife and I bought four medium bags. Hot Chocolate and Smores for her. I settled on Bacon Cheeseburger and Habenero (which had a nice fiery bite). Needless to say, we shared our bags but undoubtedly the majority went to my mouth. Good thing this shop is several hours from home else I would have to work my way through a hundred flavors!

My highest recommendation. If you enjoy popcorn, this is a must visit! Staff was very friendly and the owner even came out to meet us. Hmmm, I wonder if they franchise??? We will...

This is the worst customer service lady I have ever experienced- not exaggerating. Only way to describe her is skinnier lady in the evening shift 12/22- rude to everything in sight. She was so rude to everyone in front of us, and then when my partner and I came up, he was buying a bag and tried his flavors and then I was ready to try mine and buy a couple bags, and the lady said with an attitude “nice try you guys are together NEXT” and I said I wanted to get my own bags and she was being so rude about it with the worst attitude I have ever experienced from a human that I walked out upset- I have never ever walked out of somewhere, but this lady not customer service- this was like being berated like you would a bad child. Other people in line left after how she treated me and said how they couldn’t believe how rude this lady was. This lady is loosing this place business but seems like she doesn’t care about that either. I’m not sure how the other coworker deals with this lady either. Ended my night terribly. She does not need to be in a customer...
