The Ichiban is the best Asian cuisine buffet I've ever been to. The Ichiban name is applied to another restaurant in the area which I believe is a hibachi grill which I think is a neat business strategy but could be potentially confusing because of the close proximity of each restaurant...but anyway, we went to the Ichiban buffet and our experience was a pleasant one. The building from the outside makes the place seem very "high end" but the price point is pretty much the same as other Asian food buffets I have been to in my home town. The interior decor confused me as well because it is very nice in there; right next to the front door where the "wait time" seating is a BYOC or "Bring Your Own Cord" charge station (which ironicly you won't use unless your in a large party because we got in seated in less than two seconds in the door with a party of three...) which I thought was cool. It's little modern conveniences like this that really makes a difference to a customer, especially when they are as simple as a power strip with female USB connectors to charge your phone. After seeing all of the neat decor my thoughts were "we are going to spend a lot of money here" but it was a reasonable price. The flow of the buffet and the seating surprised me because it was very well done and the music was different from what I was use to as well. The music was fresh and upbeat; there was a lot of bass in the music but it was very different from hip hop; it was like pop with subtle Drum & Bass but with "diva" vocals (I couldn't hear the vocals clearly over people talking but I swear it was Patti LaBelle mixed over Electronica) and it sounded pretty good. It's a far cry from traditional Chinese style Konghou harp or other stringed instruments; which isn't bad but it's welcome change and works well with the Ichiban's atmosphere (I for one would love to hear Yazuo Wu Qu "Dance of the Yao People" or Zhou Xuan sing the Song of Four Seasons or Ye Shang Hai at least ONCE in an Asian cuisine place but I digress). The food selection was great; it tasted great (my favorite was the coconut shrimp) and the food name tags actually matched the food on the buffet bar, something buffet establishments (not just Asian cuisine) where I'm from struggle with for some reason. The staff was friendly and kept up with our drinks and dirty plates and we were very pleased with our service....makes me wish we had an Ichiban in middle Tennessee.

Discriminatory child pricing. Many children age 11 and under are over 5 feet tall yet they charge adult prices for a tall child and not for a shorter child. Rude management. Did not notice the height discrimination on the sign or probably would have walked out without eating there. When we got our bill I noticed our children were charged adult rates. When I questioned the waitress about it, she implied the girls looked older and questioned me as to which one was older. Then she said they were over five feet so they pay adult rate. When she called the manager over, he said it was “Clearly” posted on their sign in the lobby.

I have been to this place three times. Personally, I am not a fan of buffets and have come here with group events. There are a variety of different options so you can definitely find something to eat. It is vegetarian friendly and they have assorted pastries, ice cream and fruits for dessert. The Mississippi sushi roll is quite tasty. I don't think I would come here for a meal personally but if I had to come here with a group events I guess I wouldn't mind.

We ate here on April 1, 2018 which will be our be our last time, these people are very rude and pushy. We were basically rushed out due to them getting ready to close, which we did not know that they closed at 9 p.m. which was totally unfair because we should have been informed of that before they seated us and we would have gladly left had we known we wouldn't have enough time to enjoy ourselves, not only that but the waitress was very rude also, while we were getting ready to leave as she was clearing the table in such a rush, as a result of her doing that my daughter's butter cup that she had for her crab legs spilled on her clothes, She also took my fortune cookie off the table too, earlier before all this happened she did not at all acknowledge me pressing the call button on the table, even though she was looking directly at me as I pressed the button and she brought me unsweet tea when I specifically asked for sweet tea. The food was also scarce, old, & cold. She even had the nerve to rush me to pay my bill. I notified the management of all this and absolutely nothing was done, I wasted $52 dollars and we left there not even full because we were told we had to leave because they were closing. This place will never get anymore of my business and I would not recommend this...

Upon entering the restaurant me and my friend were seated by a host. Once our waitress came to our table (Helen). She asked with an attitude what we wanted to drink (we were the only blacks at the table with 6 white people). She then went to the white guest and with a smile she took there order. Once the cook came he started to prepare our food. Me and my friend ordered the same as the people next to us. A shared plate. He gave them way more food and gave us just straps , we then asked for managment she had and attitude and was no help. The waitress came and gave us our ticket she had our total wrong we then told her that it was wrong. Once she corrected the order. We gave her the money she then told us to wait as she counted out the money infront of everyone( embarrassing ). As if we trying to cheat them. We were the only ones that she did like that. Then she told me that I shorted her 21 cents that was already on the table. I gave it to her she threw the change back at me. After I handed it to her. I was so...
