Booked ahead while on the road to stay at this particular Holiday Inn in Flowood. After a week of traveling and staying at numerous hotels along the way, this was our final lodgings for the week.||Having not stayed at a Holiday Inn in the past, although I have considered them, I was looking forward to my stay. The parking lot was packed with no room to park in the large expansive parking lot in the front, even though it wasn't too late into the evening (7pm).||We go in to check-in and wait to be acknowledged by the woman at the front desk. She is diligently arranging room cards at the counter, so I wait. In the lobby, there is a young child playing who the woman at the front desk gets and takes to a back room in the front office area.||Pleasantries were lacking. No welcome. No hello. Just a "Are you checking in?" We go through the process of checking in as she leaves to go check on the young child she had ushered to the back. With our keys in hand we leave the desk and head to our room.||First floor, room #110. Nice and quiet in the hallway, the room looks nice and inviting. We pull our luggage into the room when my husband pulls out the desk chair and finds someone else's clothing (we thought it was underwear initially). We look at it and immediately begin wondering how clean is this room. Knowing that every review I read when there is a problem, the question is, did you tell someone. In this case, I took a picture and immediately returned to the front desk. There was no one was at the counter except for the two women at the front desk. ||Neither acknowledged my presence, so I had to go in and let them know that there was clothing in my room from a previous guest, showing them the picture on my phone. Neither bothered to look at the phone and just pretty much said, "Okay." Honestly, to be so dismissive towards me regarding a potentially dirty room left me shaking. It wasn't until I was walking away and told them, I just needed to let someone know about it, so that when I wrote my review I could say that they were informed. Only at that point did they ask me my room number and then "Sorry".||Return to the room. Now we are curious how clean the room really is. Two queens in the room. One bed we pull the bed covers down to discover a piece of hair and the impression of a body. Nope to that one. The other queen looked untouched, so we chose that bed. Did I return to the front desk? No. Why should I? They obviously didn't care.||Breakfast the next morning was supposed to start at 6am, but it wasn't until close to 7am that breakfast was ready for the guests. My husband turned in the key and said the morning woman had the same customer skills as the women the night before, none. She didn't acknowledge him, ask how his stay was, just continued to work on whatever it was she had in front of her.||The good part about the stay? The bed was comfortable, our hallway was quiet, and we slept well.||Parking: Apparently the restaurant adjacent to the hotel Table 100 has their patrons take over the parking lot at the Holiday Inn. By the next morning the entire front parking lot was pretty much empty.||Based on our experience at the Holiday Inn in Flowood-Jackson, we are unlikely to ever return to a Holiday Inn. We pay for a good stay and that includes customer service and making you...
Read moreFirst time staying at a Holiday Inn I was impressed with how nice and clean the lobby was. There was a young child in front of the desk, but she was the daughter of the woman checking us in. She took her daughter to a room in the back then returned to ask if we were checking in.
The entire checking in process was subpar and I was questioning my choice to book here. No friendliness or even professional customer service. Came across as though I was a bother.
Checked into room to discover previous guest had left clothing (looked like underwear initially) in a chair in the room. Returned to front desk to report it. They didn’t care. Only after I mentioned that I did my duty in reporting it so that when I left my review I could say I told someone, did they ask what room I was in. They wrote it down and that was it.
Returned to my room and checked one of the beds and found hair and an impression of a body. The second bed looked unslept in, so we slept in that one.
Slept well and the room we were in was quiet.
Breakfast was to start at 6am, but didn’t start until closer to 7 as we were pulling our luggage out.
The front staff at checkout had the same customer service as the evening staff. None. Very unfriendly.
Also, on the weekends, the parking at the hotel is taken over by patrons from a restaurant next door (Table 100). Everyone had to try and find parking in the back parking lot instead.
For the price we paid, it wasn’t worth it.
All in all, I will never recommend this...
Read moreThe only good thing about this hotel, Holiday Inn in Flowood, is the beds are comfortable and we slept well.
The not so great, the staff have terrible customer service and are not pleasant. If I was staying at a $90 hotel room I wouldn't care, but the room was quite a bit more than the cheap hotel status.
We ended up with someone else's belongings in our room and a bed that was slept in prior. When it was brought to staff's attention they really didn't care. What would have made a difference is the offer to move us to another room, but that would have made more work for them. It wasn't until I mentioned that I did my part in letting them know, for review purposes, then they went further to ask what room I was in. Beyond that, it was one of the worst experiences I've had at a hotel chain.
Morning breakfast didn't start until 7am, even though it was supposed to start at 6am.
When checking out, the customer service experience from the night before carried over to the woman at the front desk. No hello, how was your stay, nothing.
Parking: There is a restaurant adjacent to the hotel and their patrons take over the entire front area of the hotel, forcing hotel guests to park behind the building and not have the convenience of the front doors.
My advice, if you are not getting good customer service at the start of the stay, don't give them business whether at a Holiday Inn or any other...
