It was about 8pm, and I wanted some Southern style veggies that were nearby. Found this place, but was always a little hesitant to go, because he's not a fan of buffet or cafeteria style since the food is usually sitting on the line for a min. I got the pick 5 veggie pate, he got the chicken fried steak, and two sides. Again our eyes were bigger than our stomach, we saw a their huge boneless porkchop sitting on the line, it's only $4.50 a piece, so why not? Added that too.
We didnt have any high expectation, y'all, were we wrong! Everything tasted great! Porkchop was the size of half the plate, and no it wasn't all breading. That thing was like an inch thick, and super juicy, not dry one bit. Breading was light, and very well seasoned. Chicken fried steak also had great flavor. Food was hot, everything that was fried were still crispy.
All of the Veggies tasted good, some were okay, but nothing that we wouldn't eat. Mac n cheese, cabbage, lima beans, and corn souffle were our favorites. This place reminds me of Fresh Market on Spillway before the Covid days. We tried both brown and white gravy, enjoyed both, but I prefer the white gravy, it tasted like a stick of butter đ We weren't a fan of the cornbread, but that's because we like sweet cornbread, just our preference.
Overall great food, and the best bang for your buck, all of this was about $27. Included a...
Read moreGrant, Thanks for the input. You're right. You guys were implementing a new register system and I can truly appreciate that whole situation. At the time I didn't take that into account. I have to admit that's the first time basically everything was cold. Usually all things are great with the exception of maybe one/two items being on the cool side. I can get by that when everything else is awesome which it usually is. I'm going to change the review to 5 stars because I truly do enjoy eating at Grants and that's where I would rate you guys before posting yesterday. Again thanks for getting back with me. Keep up the good work and I'll see you soon.
I'm sad to have to rate them a 3 star. But I just can't go higher. I've eaten there for years off and on. The last year like 3 times a week. Usually when they open at 11. Most of the time one or two items (vegetables) will be room temp and not hot. But lately it seems to be a little worse. Today was the straw that broke...you know. EVERYTHING was room temp or a little on the cool side. I heard a lady behind me ask the girl that works there if they could heat hers up. I just can't support (and pay) a place that serves cold food. If I want to eat cold, I'll get it out of my refrigerator. I'm being generous with 3 stars. I'm going to give them a few months and maybe try again. If it's better I'll try and...
Read moreI have never eaten at this establishment before so I decided to give it a try. Big mistake. The workers were playing around as if this were a playground. The young lady who was fixing my plate stopped when her friend walked in and started a conversation with her friend. Her friend had to tell her to âfinish waiting on your customerâ so I got my plate fixed, got my salad bowl and went to my table. When I made my way to salad bad they were out of the spring mix lettuce. Keep in mind there were probably 5 kids behind the counter who were doing absolutely nothing. When I asked for more spring mix lettuce, the manager brought some. It was so dry it couldâve started a fire. No lie. So I get to the salad dressing. Ranch. It was frozen, no lie. I asked one of the five non working employees if they knew the dressing was frozen to which she replied, â yes itâs been like that for a few weeks.â At this point I politely asked for a refund and was given one. If you pay $17 for a cafeteria style meal there should not be that many issues. One positive thing about this place⊠the building itself is real cute. Happy eating, but it wonât...
