El Potrillo Mexican Restaurant & Grill — Restaurant in Flowood

Rating is not low enough for what I experienced as a customer today on July 5, 2021. Let me start by saying the food was good, but what I later experienced after I paid for my ticket was inexcusable behavior from 2 staff members. As I was walking out of the restaurant this young female & young man, both employees of the restaurant approached me to ask if I paid for my ticket because they saw me sipping on a margarita. These 2 employees weren't my initial waitress from the start. The gentleman who approached me outside the restaurant with the young lady, I remember him annoyingly as I was sitting in the restaurant, kept passing by my booth asking me every second it seems, was everything alright ? Little did I know he was cowardly Racially profiling me. Both staff members were asking questions as if I was some sort of criminal, who had come into there establishment just to eat there food & try to vanish like a bandit. When I ask why they were asking me all these questions, they didn't have an answer only to say they didn't see me pay for the ticket. My reply was, why would you, you weren't the waitress that waited on me, for I gave my money to the waitress who actually served me. This young immature girl then wanted to know how much I paid the waitress? I told her why don't you ask him, she then states, I can't because we just fired him. If you just fired an employee, obviously he had to do something horribly wrong to get fired in the middle of a shift, but then you question a customer for your dumb actions!!! I went back inside to speak with the manager & she was just as Stupid as they were in not trying to deal with the situation at all, which made me feel more irritated than I was b4. There was no apology from the manager or the other 2 employees involved. I left the restaurant furious as 2 other African American saw my anger & asked what happened. As I stated my story to them, they too had a story to tell in what appeared to them as Racially profiling. They asked to sit outside on the deck part of the restaurant only 2 be told it was not open for service, but then notice the staff seating Caucasian in that area, so they left not wanting to dine with the restaurant. Another young lady, African American heard our conversation after wanting to stop in & get a bite to eat, decided this is not the place she wanted to spend her money. I had to let the young immature child of a waitress, know that, I don't have to eat & run from a restaurant for my occupation as a PROFESSIONAL NURSE,, RN doesn't allow me to stoop to such a level. You have to question her motives & her approach for I'm sure I wasn't the only customer the waitress they allegedly fired waited on. Did they run 🏃‍♂️ and chase them down like they did me??? Black people don't put your money into this restaurant after you read this review. I will never return here ever again. If you are Caucasian and you are reading this and you are of EQUALITY for all, don't spend your money here. Business owners have to realize, we as customers keep you in business and you need to treat ALL WITH RESPECT!! Good Customer Service is EVERYTHING!!! Little did this waitress know I could have paid for her whole family to eat for the rest of the week.. I guess that's why she's waiting tables and punching a cash register. I'm already established!! I will never recommend this Restaurant to anyone, the service was garbage alone with the manager! Once seated with a friend of mine, we were given a server that didn’t quite understand the questions we asked In reference to the food & drinks (suggested sales)! After we placed our order for drinks and appetizers (which was a 20 min wait and the appetizer was just a cheese dip) we never got silverware nor napkins. Finally after we received our drinks and appetizers the cheese was cold and we asked to speak with a manager that wasn’t any better because he then brought the cheese out and it was room temperature & it’s December, so imagine that( right cold) as if they really was trying to take all orders just to not miss out on money and forgetting about their customers! After finally placing our actual order, other guests that was seated after us received their food before we did and we waited over 45 mins. At this point I’m no longer hungry and tried to get in touch with our server to notify him but he was no where to be found! Now the ticket is here and I asked if they can just take my order off? Will you get the manager here, here comes the manager basically trying to just make me take the food & pay but I refused so he told me to do him a favor and never return...!! We usually eat here a lot, we were regular customers but to be honest we’ve had better Mexican food; we would come here because it was close by and decent but we will be driving further elsewhere for Mexican. We literally would get the beef tacos soft whenever we came because the quesadillas were average and they didn’t cover them with cheese. Everything we tried here other than the beef soft tacos were average. We decided to step outside of the box again and try the beef nachos; not only did they forgot the sour cream and pico de gallo etc; we got home and opened our nachos and it literally looked as if a dump truck bagged in and dumped ground beef on our nachos and their was little to no queso cheese on there. We took a couple bites and decided to take them back for a refund. The manager argued with us and let us know he knew we were regulars but that because we tasted them he wouldn’t be able to sell those plates to someone else and refused us a refund. He offered a credit for the plates but told us we would HAVE to get the same thing we ordered before. Why would I want to reorder something that I didn’t like before and was disgusted by? I literally felt like I was eating a meat pie. All in all, He was willing to let go of regular customers for 27 dollars. So we won’t be eating here anymore.
