Plenty of free parking, though can be a slight walk for mobility impaired when theatre is busy. -- This low key, fast-casual, authentic Mexican food restaurant is located in the old-defunct Taco Bell building...complete with the same exact interior; it's like a time warp to the 70's man. Dig it? -- Don't let the old exterior/interior visuals or cleaning chemicals smell be a deterrent, as the fresh ingredients and food-truck style choices/flavor are fantastic...not to mention decent portions. [Note: The business name "Express" is a conundrum, as it conjures visions of canned, heat-lamp fast food; but, in reality, the ingredients are fresh and genuine. Given that factoid, patrons need to take a seat while waiting for the made-to-order meal (no table service, so have to be able to get to/from order counter carrying a tray of food.)] -- Drinks: Pepsi, self-serve soda fountain, 3 authentic drink fountains, and cold-case with ethnic bottled sodas. -- Complimentary, self-serve chips-n-salsa station with a handful of topping options. Bottom line: a good pre-movie meetup spot to grab some very good, authentic Mexican food without the trappings of a...
This place has been opening locations everywhere, so I was curious about their food. The reviews were all over the place, but my husband and I still wanted to give it a try. We played it safe with our order 😎 I got a breakfast burrito (steak, potato, cheese, and eggs) and a hot dog with bacon. The burrito was good, but it was kinda skinny compared to other places. And I was expecting the sausage to be wrapped in bacon. Instead, chopped bacon and veggies were served on top and the side. And it was pretty small also, for almost $6, I didn’t think the hot dog was worth it. My husband got two al pastor street tacos and a chorizo burrito. The al pastor was on the sour side, not because it was bad, but likely due to too much pineapple, lime, or another acidic ingredient in the marinade. The burrito, however, was also good. They offer two red salsas, both of which were tasty. I wish they were spicier but had a nice kick. Yum! The service was friendly, and the food came out pretty quickly. For dessert, I got churros, and they were delicious! Overall, I think this place is decent, but I can’t judge it fully since I haven’t tried more of the menu. I’ll definitely be coming back to try more...
Read moreTried This Place While Lodging in Folsom for a weekend away from home. My Boyfriend and I ordered the #1 for him. Taco plate with 2 shredded beef tacos w/rice & beans and #4 for me. Taco plate with 1 chicken & 1 beef Taco w/rice & beans. This place is pretty good considering it replaced the Taco Bell that was previously here and most of the food items are made to order. My only critique is that the add a little more flavor. Besides the salsas that we grabbed with our to-go orders the meats, beans, and rice were a little bland. I am watching my sodium intake so for me my rice and beans were okay but, it would be great to taste herbs, spices, and seasoning throughout the meal. I think I will try a burrito or something different next time instead of the crispy tacos... They were good but, for a last minute dinner idea & not having or wantingto cook...
