The place was pretty busy as usual, and we might have waited somewhere between 10-15 minutes after being seated to have our order taken by the single best waitress I've ever had in my entire 40 years on this planet, ANGIE. She thanked my mom and I for our patience, but I didn't really feel as though we waited that long. She's such a sweet lady, VERY efficient and accommodating. Seriously you guys, 10/10 I've never been to this particular Cracker Barrel before but I don't think I'll ever go to a different one now!! And I'll always ask for Angie!! Even when we went to pay and we told the cashier how much we enjoyed our waitress, her response was that she is her work bff and she loves her!!
Ok about the food now. I ordered a meal called Country Boy Breakfast with the steak, and when I saw the portions of breakfast meat my mom got I did NOT expect my steak to be so big. That was a very nice sized steak (for basically $1.50 more than the one mom got, which was the same thing I had with a sample of ham, bacon, and sausage) and I'm not sure of the seasoning but everything was AMAZING. Neither mom or I like grits so I can't report on that, but Cracker Barrel won't substitute for the grits so we just said don't bring it. The fried apples, the hashbrown casserole, and biscuits with a bowl of gravy and fancy jam were all absolutely amazing. We both ordered our eggs fried over medium....let me tell you guys also that my mom is a waitress at a diner on Springdale and I'm a cook (currently looking for employment), so when we tell you guys that between the food itself and the service, we've genuinely never had a better experience ANYWHERE ELSE, you have to realize that we're very serious 😁
Something else I want to add, which I felt was very important to include, is that they are hiring at that location in basically every position. I felt like this was important to mention because the longest wait we had was between being seated and having our order taken, which again was somewhere between 10-15 minutes, so not too terribly long. While it wasn't necessarily packed, as in there was no wait to be seated, the place was definitely full. The first portion of the dining room was entirely full with large parties, the second portion where we were sat had one open table (for us lol). The employees were VERY busy. But we put our order in and both went to the ladies room to wash our hands, and I can't tell you how long it was. We were both starving when we arrived, I would be honest with you if took longer than one would expect, but we both felt like it took almost no time at all for the food to make it to the table. Hot, perfectly seasoned, and absolutely delicious. WHILE THEY'RE UNDERSTAFFED.
I don't know how this restaurant isn't talked about more often. I've eaten at the one in Harrison, Ohio, and several down south when I was younger. This particular restaurant is top tier though. They are non-discriminatory with who they hire, there were many different types of employees. One who sported an undercut with pink hair, she's the hostess that sat us. People with tattoos. I APPRECIATE THAT. This is the world we live in, people are diverse, and I cannot stand an employer that discriminates people based on piercings, tattoos, and unnatural hair color. At one point I dropped my butter knife and Angie caught it and brought me another one IMMEDIATELY, but it was this way I found out that the floor needed swept and mopped. But again, we came right after a rush, so this was to be expected. And would be literally the only thing anyone could possibly complain about (and they'd be in the wrong for doing so).
Cracker Barrel in Forrest Park, I wish I could have given you 20 stars instead of just five, thank you very much for the wonderful...
Read moreI has a remake order on Thursday October 3, 2024 Turkey & Dressing Meal which was horrible the 2 side Mac & Cheese was cold and was cooked correctly, the dressing was cold and not cooked correctly, was cold and Green Bean and Fried Okra was on a Thursday evening my wife order previously order 3 or 4 weeks before this issue. She waited for 45 minutes for until she could get her order that she called in and had to called 5 times because she and I kept being put on hold until we got there and had to ask for manager. Thursday October 2, 2024 at 12:30 pm. I called in and placed a order for a remake of the same exact order. The manager on duties could not find my credit that my wife had place and Robert was the manager that Thursday evening when we had the first issue. I also order a coffee with my reward points Thursday, October 3, 2024, I ask for fresh brewed coffee. I am on my lunch break so I have to wait 30 minutes for my order. When the manager that took my order on the phone told me the remake would be done in 10-15 minutes. When I receive my order from the carryout waiter. I was missing my okra and extra side of Mac & Cheese. They put on Silverware set in my bag, napkins, cream and sugar for my coffee. I'm a funeral service coordinator I had a 45 minute break to grab lunch and be back at the funeral home. I was late due to the my order wasn't made until I got to your restaurant. I open up my bag an the container that my meal was in it was a lunch size Turkey and dressing 2 small side of dressing, green bean and mac & cheese. Hardly no gravy on the 2 small pieces of turkey. I asked for extra gravy and wasn't put in the bag. My food was cold like it had set for a longtime because they gave me my order. The coffee was old and I asked for fresh coffee it was not fresh it was cold.
THE FOOD WAS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. I DON'T CARE IF IT LUNCH TIME OR IT BUSY IT IS NOT EXCUSE TO SERVE FOOD OF THIS QUALITY. OVER THE LAST YEAR AND A HALF THE QUALITY OF THE FOOD HAS GONE DOWN. This is not my first or second time I have gave this restaurant the benefit of the doubt. THE LEVEL OF SERVICE, QUALITY AND TIME IT TAKES TO PREPARE HOME COOK MEALS AS A REPUTABLE RESTAURANT HAS DETERIORATED. I LOVED CRACKER BARREL I'M STARTING TO PLACE DOUBT ON THIS LOCATION.

Read moreOrdered the Biscuit Benny. When it was time for the food to come out, the server came over and said they had made my order but were out of hollandaise sauce. That is what makes any eggs Benedict item good. I didn't want to make the rest of my party wait while I ordered something else. So I said I would try it without hollandaise. It needed some type of sauce. I should have had them at least put biscuit gravy on before it was topped with the eggs. But I didn't think of it. At checkout, the cashier asked how everything was, and I said they didn't have hollandaise for my order, and she said "sorry ". You would think that the kitchen would have realized that they were out of hollandaise before they put my order on a plate.
Went to the same Cracker Barrel again. I decided to try the Biscuit Benny since I was not able to get it last time. The sausage was over cooked. I ordered poached egg on it and the waitress came back and told me they were not allowed to do poached eggs. She said my choices were over easy, over medium, over well, or scrambled. I ordered sunny side up, which they did. They had hollandaise sauce this time. They must have put a whole teaspoon of it around the biscuit. I don't know how they call it hollandaise sauce, because the only way it resembled it was it was a shade of yellow. At checkout the cashier asked the people in front of me how was their meal and the service and they answered fine. When he asked me, I said "passable" and he just continued ringing up my order. I guess they ask because they have to ask, not...
