Food was subpar. Service was subpar. We went in with a group of 7, lots of times I'm ok with the wait but today we were 1 of 2 tables in for the evening. They were not busy at all, dead as it gets, but we waited patiently for food to come out in sample portions, splitting it between a group of 7. These are the unlimited sides. Acquired tastes on some of them, I'd say I liked half of them. The beef stew side was the best. EXCEPT try splitting that single portion between 7 people, it's ridiculous!.....UNREAL. Then asking for more than one side at a time is against the rules.....WHERES THE UNLIMITED PART? This should be 1 of each side per person. You can see where I'm going with this.... You can imagine the intensity of when you get more than one serving, everyone actually can try the sides!.... The food was SUBPAR all the way around, my family had some other choice words. Then there was the fact we couldn't get any service from the waitress. We were refilling our own water after a period of no service....I was pretty impatient with the entire thing at this point. That's not it though, then just to get a refill on the teriyaki chicken we had another 30min ordeal. Everyone liked that better than all the other pork, So that was literally our only request for more chicken. But we still had a long inconvenient wait. Just so inconvenient that they bring out single plate for a group of 7 people! I want to eat without interruptions, especially when we give them notice!! We can handle portion control but theres a reason for it when we chose the unlimited BBQ. So to put it in short, all the food outside the short ribs is basic and has little to no value in the meal. They give you limited sides, 1 serving per table ,and none of the meat comes out together. I personally think they hustle you as a group. Dont do the unlimited BBQ. The brisket was horrible, definitely the worst. Then following that was all the hastle of waiting for the good stuff for 30min...... They give you all the flavor in the short ribs , everything else is cheap and gross. Yet if you want more short ribs it's an additional $20. They know that's the good stuff. It comes with a premium. Is it worth it? I'd say no. At that point we had spent $300 and no one liked anything other than the short ribs!!!? Everyone was unhappy......So pay more ? I'd say just skip the damn Unlimited BBQ, get the short ribs or just dont go. You might not find what you bargained for. Dont waste your money or time here, the holidays are for bringing the family together and you expect that you can get a good meal for that price.......I wish we got huhot at this point..either way I will not be going back. Then it doesn't end there I got sick from the food that night along with 3 out of 7.This was absurd and am requesting a refund. I DO...
Read moreA CARNIVORE'S PARADISE! I re-visited Dae Gee earlier this week with a classmate, and honestly, nothing changed (in a good way!). If you're a carnivore seeking a true feast for your taste buds that won't break the bank either, look no further than this unlimited Korean BBQ gem in Dservice.ae Gee! Conveniently located in Old Town on Mountain and Olive, my most recent (and second ever) dining experience here was nothing short of exceptional, earning this spot another well-deserved five stars.
Let's start with the service. Victor, our server, deserves a special shout-out for his attentiveness and impeccable service. He checked up on us often, making sure we always had food on our table, and he did a great job ensuring our grilling experience went without a hitch. His friendly demeanor and prompt attention to our needs added an extra layer of enjoyment to our meal.
Now, let's talk alcohol. The peach soju was an unexpected delight. Refreshing and sweet, it proved to be the ideal companion, seamlessly complementing the savory flavors of the barbecue. A definite must-try for anyone eager to explore the world of soju with a delightful peachy twist.
I would be remiss not to mention the value of this place. One of the standout features of Dae Gee is the value for money. At $30 for lunch (which excludes the galbi) and $38 for dinner (which includes the galbi), you get an all-you-can-eat extravaganza that puts other pricey steakhouse and dining options to shame. I couldn't help but compare it to spending the same amount elsewhere (Applebee's for example) for a measly 12 oz ribeye with only two side options. Here, you're treated to an endless array of high-quality meats and banchan options that make every dollar spent entirely worth it. Banchan options here include the jang-jorim, oi muchim, kimchi, kimchi jun, fermented onions with jalapeños, pickled radish, potato salad, fish cakes, and chicken mandoo. My taste buds were in heaven with each bite. The Dak Bulgogi (chicken) and Sam Gyeob Sal (pork belly) stole the show for me, showcasing the perfect balance of marinade and tenderness. The Sogogi Bulgogi was no slouch either, offering a delectable alternative that added variety to our grilling experience.
In summary, this unlimited Korean BBQ joint has mastered the art of providing not just a meal but an experience. With Victor's outstanding service, delightful peach soju, and a menu that won't break the bank, it's safe to say I'll be coming back for more carnivorous delights. A hearty five stars for an...
Read moreMy husband and both ordered the $40 "all you can eat" bbq, but within five minutes of the waitress bringing the multiple small dishes of raw meats and I knew I wasn't going to enjoy the experience. When the waitress returned, I told her that I changed my mind but she wouldn't let me! She said she "would get in trouble" for allowing me to change my order! It wouldn't have made a difference because all of the small dishes of food were "all you can eat," and since we had only just began, one person could have certainly eaten everything in front of us and ordered more. In fact, that's basically what happened. My husband placed multiple requests for more meats. I ate mostly the potstickers... but there's no way I ate $40 worth! Aside from fermented cabbage and pickled roots, there were NO vegetables at all. None.
The grill was really slow to cook anything, and turning up the heat only caused everything to burn. The waitress informed us to keep the temperature low. The raw meats included pork, chicken and brisket. The brisket was sliced super thin and cooked down to a very small amount, but at least you could tell when it was cooked. The pork and chicken were actually somewhat thick... But there was no thermometer or timer or any way of knowing that the meat was cooked! It was really unappealing to me; Even though we technically had two orders, we were given only one set of tongs to move both raw and cooked meats. This is highly unsanitary! My husband fully indulged in everything and was sick for half of the night. Eat here at your own risk and your own expense. We would not recommend it and will not...
