Finding a great donut place is like have great "*", (you can fill in the blank). Its all about quality not quantity, the flavor and texture of the fillings and the dough itself makes or breaks a donut. I have been across this great country from Krispy Kreme Georgia to Wisconsin and California, 28 states in all, have had the chance to taste some very bad donuts, with horrible fillings or nasty aftertaste. I say all that to say this: I know my donuts. So after ordering a managers special, which includes 6 specialty donuts and six with holes. I got 13 donuts for about 21 dollars. Not too bad for the area. Included were 2 apple fritters, too much cinnamon and dense, no real apples in the one I had. 2 strawberry filled, the strawberry filling wasnt anything special, but wasnt bad. 2 with creme filled. Not enough cream, it was light, but nothing special. 1 maple, which my daughter said was good, but not great. The dough had a good flavor, no aftertaste. The donuts were large in size but nothing to wow me in taste. But over all, on a scale of 1 - 10. With 10 being comparable to hot and now Krispy Kreme donuts, (a small taste of heaven) and 1 being the worse donut I have ever eaten, I would rate this donut shop as a 6.5, my daughter (16.5 yrs old) offered 6.75.
To date the place to find the best donuts other than Krispy Kreme can be found in Marion, Ohio. But...
Read moreI stopped in to grab a few donuts. Couple with custard inside, a couple with jelly inside, couple of cake donuts, one just one regular glazed. Thinking in my head six donuts 10 bucks. Yeah not so much. Try 24.00$. At first I was kind of floored. I asked the young lady at the register, you're kidding right?. She looked and smiled and said no. She mentioned the ones with filling were like $4 a piece. A couple of bucks each for the others. At this point I have one side of my brain saying $30 for six donuts you're out of your damn mind. The other side of my brain at this point saying two things. First donuts don't make themselves... Got to pay the help and help needs to survive. Secondly, who doesn't like fresh doughnuts. All the tables were clean. The staff all with a smile. Keeping in mind at this point in time. It was earlier than 5:00 am. All in all, the donuts were good, the location absolutely clean and all the staff smiling. Ample parking, easy access maybe just a little sign that says... Nothing good is cheap and nothing cheap is good.
The donuts themselves. large in nature. Ample amount of filling. Just the right amount of glaze. And the wonderful smell of fresh...
Read moreThe fluffiest donuts I've found in Colorado! I grew up at a lower altitude, so I was disappointed to find that the donuts here in FOCO were flatter than back home. I had a few people recommend LaMar's to me so I decided to give it a try. The donuts are definitely the soft and fluffy ones I've been looking for!
I was a little disappointed with my first donut- I got an apple-filled bismark, and it had hardly any filling. Despite being a pretty big donut, there were only two bites with apple filling. That was really disappointing. I got another one at a different location and it had more filling, so maybe it was just a fluke.
The apple fritters are pretty unique. They're GIANT, like a frisbee, and the apples taste spiced. They're not as buttery and soft as I'd like, but apple fritters pretty much taste good no matter what.
These donuts run pretty pricey, but they can be worth it if you get a good one! I just with the quality was a little...
