We were able to visit during our last day in Florida a few weeks ago. Our friend who is local wanted to give it a try.
We arrived just before our friend and put our names on the list for a table for three with the young girl behind the host stand. We were told it was a 10-15 min. wait but that they would text us when our table was ready.
Fortunately we got there just before a rush... Sadly the staff forgot about us.
After watching group after group who arrived after us get taken back and waiting for nearly 30 mins, we asked again about our table.
An older woman was now at the host stand and kind of gave us an attitude saying "Well, I wasn't here, so I don't know what happen, you weren't forgotten".
... But we were. The young girl who took our reservation came up and expressed a face of "concern"... Without really saying anything but in my opinion realizing she messed up.
They did them work to find us table and someone called up saying they had something inside. It wasn't ideal but it was an alternative to now having to wait at the back of an overloaded line. They walked us back only to discover, there was no available table inside...
We're standing in the middle of a small and crowded cafe with two waitresses now just as confused as we were. Luckily as we stood waiting a table on their covered patio open up and they allowed us to take it.
Overall the establishment has a cute vibe. The women are all dressed in cute flowery dresses, very presentable an overall appealing... while the guys, I assume management, need to work on their appearance a bit. The jeans and Jordans, dirty ones at that, is not on brand in my opinion, and they looked out of place.
The patio is nice, but small. I'm not sure they were prepare for how busy they get, but it overall the vibe is nice. On a nice day it's a great spot to enjoy an outdoor breakfast or lunch.
The food is decent but expensive. It isn't very remarkable in term is flavor but it was presented nicely and we ultimately enjoyed the food.
I'm not sure we'd venture here again. Maybe perhaps on a less busy day, but ultimately our experience was at the very least unfortunate. I think management may need some training on customer service and how to handle levels of miscommunication.
The error was certainly on their part, it changed our entire experience, and in my opinion more should have been done to correct the...
Read moreCafé Bastille has been in my list of spots to check out since they opened last year in Nov 2023. We arrived on a Sunday around 10:30am and it was perfect timing before the brunch rush. They were able to seat us right away on the patio. Yayyyy!!!
Our server was Ali aka Alison and she couldn’t have been nicer. Very sweet and friendly and always made sure we had everything we needed. I love how personable she is too and quite engaging.
We started off with some coffee drinks. Got the chai latte, strawberry Matcha latte, French toast cappuccino, and iced espresso drink. We also started with a crème brûlée cubed croissant. The coffee drinks were delicious and the French toast cappuccino was very Instagrammable. The strawberry Matcha was my drink, and although I’m not a huge fan of Matcha, I really wanted to try this. The strawberry was a perfect hint of sweetness and the drink itself was very refreshing. The cubed croissant was very pretty but we felt the custard was a little bit much and a little too sweet for our taste. The crème brûlée topping was a nice touch and the sugar was very thick, which gave it a nice crunch.
For brunch, we ordered a few different things. Got the green Shakshuka, Turkish eggs, side of bacon, And the Jerusalem salmon lox. The green Shakshuka was nice. I’ve never had the green version before, only the red. The red is still my favorite, but this was something different and quite tasty as well. The Turkish eggs was refreshing that it was served cold with the Greek yogurt, but I felt it was missing something. Maybe it needed a little dill or something else. The Jerusalem salmon lox was tasty with big hunks of the cream cheese. The bagel was nice and toasty, perfect for dipping into the Shakshuka or Turkish eggs.
Overall, Café Bastille is a perfect brunch spot with friends. It’s located right next to the water in Fort Lauderdale and the patio seating is very cute. When you walk inside, it’s very limited space but the pastries look legit. The croissant and pain au chocolat are nice and fluffy sized croissants. The pistachio spiral croissant looked good too. We had a great experience, and Ali was an excellent server and tended to our needs at all times. Thanks for the wonderful service Ali. Will...
Read moreWe visited the Café Bastille all-day brunch restaurant at the Fort Lauderdale location. We chose it because it was right by the waterfront. However, it’s worth mentioning that this restaurant doesn’t accept reservations.
Café Bastille is a charming single-story building adorned with flowers, and its entrance is particularly inviting. Upon our request, we were promptly seated at a table right by the water. Although the space is small, it boasts an elegant interior design and a delightful outdoor area. Even the wallpaper in the restroom was beautiful, and I couldn’t help but capture the pleasant atmosphere in my photos.
My spouse and I ordered the Parisian Omelet, which included ham, mushrooms, and cheese. Additionally, I requested smoked salmon and croissant. As a beverage, we paired our coffee this time instead of classic Mimosas with a Summer Bellini cocktails.
Our server, Allison, greeted us with a smile and efficiently delivered our food. Contrary to some reviews, we experienced no delays in service; in fact, we were quite satisfied. The omelet we ordered was flavorful and filling, although I personally found it a tad dry—perhaps slightly less cooking time would have made it even more enjoyable. On the other hand, the Summer Bellini made from champagne and peach puree was truly delightful. The only critique I have is that the coffee I requested refilled twice arrived cold. However, when we informed our server, the subsequent refill was piping hot.
I must also mention that at many restaurants of this caliber, clearing empty dishes from the table can be slow, but here, it was impressively efficient—a crucial aspect of quality service in my opinion.
In summary, Café Bastille is genuinely charming, located by the water, and their brunch offerings are delicious. Keep in mind that weekends tend to be quite crowded. Additionally, I recommend arriving before 10:30 AM to secure a spot without waiting in line. Lastly, it’s worth noting that an 18% service charge is automatically added to the bill.
Considering the taste, ambiance, waterside location, and excellent service, the $65 per person, including the tip, felt reasonable to me. But observing the orders from neighboring tables, I believe they paid a more...
