I recently went with my friends to celebrate my birthday. We came across this place in instagram and TikTok super excited to try it. I drove over 50 miles to try it out. We were eager to try a drink that comes in a glass purse; we were told they didn’t have any glass purses cuz they’re broken which is fine it’s not something they could control. Food wise it was ok. It’s not authentic Mexican food like I thought it was going to be. Tacos were overpriced; it shouldn’t be $20+ for 3 tacos. The burritos weren’t wrapped up like they should be. The food did have flavor but it not authentic Mexican food. Service wasn’t what I expected. The menus were taken from us even tho we were still looking at it. We were given a few amount of napkins and throughout the dinner the waiter would walk by and take our napkins without asking and yes they were still clean. The waiter did not check up on us. When it came time to pay for our bill, we asked to split the bill and the waiter told us no because he was busy. Also we were not done with our meal either. The place itself is pretty but the environment wasn’t giving mexican restaurant; the music they played was all in English, not a single Mexican song while I was there. My friends asked for a dessert for my birthday. They came and brought me a flan told me happy birthday and brought me a hat. The flan wasn’t good; it had a weird texture to it; it’s not smooth and creamy like how a flan should be. Also they charged to say happy birthday and wear the sombrero which I didn’t ask for. I didn’t want to wear one cuz I didn’t want to ruin my hair and to charge to say happy birthday not even sing it is ridiculous. No where in Miami or the keys do they charge to sing happy birthday. My food and margarita alone were $60 and my bill came out to over $80 once I added the water. I want to know why they charging over $20 for WATER. I will not be coming back.
P.S. yes I am Mexican, grew up in Mexican culture and community and lived in Mexico as well so I would know authentic...
Read moreCame in with the wife on a Saturday night to check out the new Clase Azul restaurant and was pleasantly surprised to get seated right away. Not too crowded, which was a win for us. The decor is on point...vibrant blues, whites, and earthy tones that scream "Clase Azul bottle but make it a dining room." Very cool vibe, definitely sets the mood!
Started things off the right way with margaritas. I went for the Amante Picante from their spicy margarita section...yes, a whole section for spicy drinks! It brought the heat without overdoing it, right in my sweet spot. The wife tried the LaFlaca, which was basically two drinks in one. She was into it. Strong start all around.
Food-wise...we wanted to try and app so we went with the Tricolor Tamales. Chicken, pork, and cheese...all three were legit! MUST TRY appetizer.
For entrées, wife got the fish tacos. Portion-wise, they're labeled as two, but it's basically four full-size tacos. She tapped out halfway through the second, but not before declaring them "amazing." Bonus points for the pinto beans on the side...not your usual afterthought beans, these had so much flavor! You'll see.
I went with the shredded chicken chimichanga, which was smothered in queso, crispy outside, flavorful inside. Only hiccup: asked for no onions and got onions anyway. Not the end of the world, and the staff was super accommodating to get me one without.
Despite being stuffed, we couldn't leave without dessert. Saw sopapillas on the menu and nostalgia took over. Came with cinnamon and ice cream. That combo is pure dessert heaven for me.
Music was a nice background touch, though I wish there was more authentic Mexican in the rotation instead of whatever Spotify playlist they were using. Minor thing, but still worth mentioning.
All in all...A strong opening for Clase Azul's restaurant concept. Cool atmosphere, thoughtful food and drink menu, and just a good fully belly experience. We'll definitely be back! And fingers crossed it catches on and...
Read moreI recently dined at Clase Azul Mexican Restaurant on a Sunday afternoon, and while the experience had its highlights, it left me with mixed feelings overall.
The atmosphere is a standout feature. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, capturing vibrant Mexican vibes that immediately transport you. From colorful murals to authentic decor, the ambiance is immersive and Instagram-worthy, making it a great spot for a visually appealing dining experience.
Unfortunately, the service didn’t match the decor’s charm. The staff seemed stretched thin, and it took a while for servers to check on our table. Communication was also a challenge, as most servers didn’t speak fluent English, which led to some confusion. For instance, our server pointed to a photo at the top of the menu to represent the steak quesadilla we ordered, but what arrived looked nothing like it (see the uploaded photo for reference).
The food arrived impressively fast, which was a plus. However, the pricing felt above average for what was offered. The steak quesadilla, while boasting tender meat, was overly salty and didn’t live up to expectations set by the menu’s imagery. The drink prices were another sore point—quite expensive for what you get, which added to the sense that the value wasn’t quite there.
The restaurant was surprisingly quiet for a Sunday afternoon, with only a few other patrons around. This made the slow service even more noticeable. While the food wasn’t bad, it didn’t wow me enough to overlook the service issues or the steep prices.
Overall, Clase Azul’s vibrant atmosphere is a draw, but the lackluster service, language barriers, and high prices for drinks and food left me underwhelmed. I won’t be rushing back, but it might suit those prioritizing ambiance over service and...
