The service was good aside from the server placing the order for the salmon as “well done”-which we did not request (I just caught that as I am writing this review). The music was too loud indoors for the size of the space, which is probably why he placed our order incorrectly. The name of this restaurant makes you think it’s Japanese cuisine but it’s more like Japanese inspired cuisine. The flavors are very different from genuine Japanese food and not in a way that we found to be all that enjoyable. The “nail in the coffin,” however, was that the salmon was extremely overcooked and dry and the calamari was also overcooked and rubbery. In addition, the calamari portion was tiny, like only one small squid and it was cut in a way that all the pieces were stuck together. The takoyaki had a good texture but a strange flavor that reminded me of cumin and chili (no bonito flakes on top!). The rolls were nicely assembled but too sweet; they were eel (my kid picked them so I didn’t have high hopes for them anyway because I don’t like eel sauce). The rice was standard teppanyaki style, and not bad, but also pretty meh. I don’t usually eat American “hibachi,” so this could just be my taste preferences. We perhaps struck out with what we ordered. Really wanted to like this...
Read moreThe Salmon Truffle Roll, a masterpiece of flavors and textures, stole the show. Each bite revealed the perfect harmony between delicate fresh salmon and the earthy aroma of truffle, leaving my taste buds dancing in delight. The velvety smoothness of the truffle-infused sauce added a luxurious touch, elevating this roll to a whole new level of indulgence. It's a must-try for any sushi enthusiast.
Another standout dish was the Salmon Crispy Rice. The combination of lightly seared salmon atop a bed of perfectly crispy rice was a symphony of contrasting textures. The salmon's buttery richness played harmoniously with the crispy rice's delightful crunch, creating an addictive bite-size delight. The subtle tang of the accompanying sauce added a burst of flavor, making it a tantalizing treat that I couldn't get enough of.
Lastly, the Las Olas Roll is a true testament to the creativity and innovation of Suishi Sake's culinary team. This vibrant roll featured a medley of fresh ingredients, including succulent shrimp tempura, creamy avocado, and a zesty touch of spicy mayo. The interplay of flavors was sensational, and the presentation was a feast for the eyes. It's a perfect choice for those seeking a delightful...
