Whether you're a Fort Wayne native or just passing through, you MUST stop and try Conner's Kitchen and Bar. Call ahead and make a reservation or reserve a table online ahead of time to make things easier. When you make your reservation make sure you ask to sit in Johnny O's section. He will make sure to assist you in finding the right food and beverage for your tastes.
We started dinner with an order of smoked chicken wings with dry rub. These were served with a side of avocado ranch dipping sauce. The rub was the perfect blend of sweet, spicy, and salty. The ranch was a nice light cooling element that paired well with the wings.
Our drinks were both recommended by Johnny. They were so delicious and mixed perfectly that it was hard to stop at just one. Although both drinks were refreshing, I think the Strawberry Mule edged out the Lavender Haze for best drink of the night.
For dinner my wife ordered the Southwest salad and added steak for extra protein. This salad was HUGE! This plate was an incredible blend of fresh chopped veggies, grilled steak, cheese, housemade cornbread croutons, and a bright and delicious cilantro vinegarette.
I ordered the spec for the week which was a chorizo burger, corn, black beans, fried onions, cilantro lime crema, and pepper jack cheese. My sandwich was both hearty and packed with flavor. The burger patty itself was hot and juicy. The spices on the chorizo were kept in check by the crema. The bun was soft and buttery. My only critique on the burger was that I think it wouldve benefited from a fresh vegetable element. A crisp piece of lettuce, some crunch from raw onion, or even a fresh pico de galo/corn salsa would help elevate this burger from good to great. This sandwich could also have a place on a brunch menu with some crispy bacon and fried egg on top.
All that being said, we are thankful for all the great experiences we've had at Conner's to date. The service is consistently excellent. The food has always been great. I would reorder every cocktail they have ever served me. Next time we come we will have to save room for dessert. Thank you for all...
Read moreMother’s Day brunch was a complete disappointment. We’ve had breakfast at Connor’s in the past and never could’ve imagined how bad our experience would be.
$45 per person plus automatic 20% tip, so I guess that means the waiter didn’t have to even do the minimum. We sat and waited for someone to greet us and take our drink order while we saw 3 tables after us all get service. I had to go ask someone to help us. After that, the waiter never said a word to us and I had to go get him to get more coffee and our bill. He never were asked how we were doing or if we wanted more drinks. It seemed like 1 waiter for the entire half of the restaurant.
The drinks - coffee was cold and my husband’s cup remained empty for almost the entire meal. I caught the waiter and the second cup was hot. My hazelnut latte didn’t have any hazelnut. I paid .50 for that but didn’t fight it because it was a struggle to catch the waiter.
Now the food - nothing was labeled and you really didn’t know what many items were. Most of the food was cold. The “breakfast” part only consisted of eggs and meat. There weren’t potatoes or biscuits or anything like that. The stuffed pork loin was so dry that my husband couldn’t swallow it. The “waffle bar” didn’t have any fruit or whipped cream. It consisted of butter, syrup, and some sprinkles and sundae toppings. The scrambled eggs were good. There were a ton of desserts, I’ll give them that.
We also watched a lady set a table and put her hands on the rim of every water glass. The front entrance was closed off for some reason, so everyone had to walk through the food lines and into the hotel to exit.
We paid $239 for 4 people to basically have the equivalent of a continental breakfast at a...
Read moreI’ve started visiting Fort Wayne, Indiana over the past few months. As I travel, I look for local fare, the best food in whatever genres are prevalent to the area. So, you’re in the Midwest, what do you think about…FARM TO TABLE, of course!!
So I start my research before my first visit and when I arrive at my hotel, the front desk tells me that have a great Farm to Table place right here!! After a long drive, I figure why not…off to Connor’s Kitchen and Bar I go!!
Flash forward a few months and I make this a daily stop when I’m in town. Oh, and when I say daily, I mean DAILY!! There’s many reasons to come, of course, but let me highlight just a few…
The food prepared by Chef Nate is of the highest quality. Fresh and delicious, you will find an abundance of flavors await your palette. My favorite; by far, is the bread pudding. A dessert you say? I dare you to take one bite of this warm bite of heaven and prove me wrong. The journey will be amazing no matter what!!
it’s not very often that you come to a restaurant as a patron and leave as a member of the family, but that’s what happens here at Connor’s. Midwest hospitality is on full display with smiles greeting you at every turn. From Jessica, my favorite bartender and resident psychologist (bartenders, right?) to Sydney (the server I ask for every time), laughs and good times are in abundance!! I look forward to evenings when I can walk in, get my favorite dessert and spend quality time with my newest friends.
Overall, if you live in the area, visiting, or are staying at one of the downtown are hotels (especially the Marriott Courtyard, where the restaurant is located), you simply owe it to yourself to come to this amazing establishment. Eat...
