This McDonald’s used to be the best—clean, fast, and consistent.
I left a positive review years ago. This is my first update, and I’m taking it all down to 1 star. Let me now justify my descent into madness:
Food
The only thing consistent here is how they ruin the food in the exact same way every time. I don’t know what’s going on, but I now drive five extra minutes to the Lake Worth or Las Vegas Trail locations just to avoid this place.
Go ahead, order a Quarter Pounder meal ($11, by the way). Your first reaction to the first bite? "Gross, this is cold."
I think they’re putting still-frozen cheese slices (and maybe vegetables?) on it. The meat temperature is fine. The bun? Either normal or rock-hard, dice roll. But the result is always the same—ice-cold unmelted cheese ruining your burger EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.
McGriddles? If this is your first time having one here, congrats—you probably think they’re terrible and won’t ever order one again. If you go to any competently run McDonald’s, though, you’ll realize McGriddles were specifically engineered to destroy your self-control. Here? They wreck them beyond understanding. I suspect they overcook the buns and then leave the whole mess under a heat lamp for eternity.
The last thing they botch consistently is the simple Sausage Burrito. Do you enjoy:
Dry eggs? Overcooked sausage? A tortilla that is either fine or has the texture of plywood? Cheese huddled at the bottom in a big, cold, unmelted glob?
If yes, congratulations, this location was made for you.
Service
This place used to be exclusively staffed by middle-aged women, and it was amazing. The food was great, orders were taken efficiently, and the whole operation ran like a well-oiled machine—until, presumably, someone with an MBA "optimized" the place straight into the ground.
Now? I have no idea. My last visit involved an issue with the app code, but I couldn’t figure out why, because the (very kind and patient) guy at the window did not speak enough English to explain it. Maybe that’s not important for a job where you verbally communicate with every customer.
The staff aren’t rude, but they’re slow, orders get confused, and anything beyond "Number 1, no modifications" seems to break the system.
Oh, and let’s talk about the drive-thru experience:
You pull up. A recording immediately greets you and asks a question. You respond. Nobody is listening. You sit there, feeling stupid. Eventually, a real person comes on and repeats the exact same question the recording just asked.
Why?
Final service note: Remember that Lake Worth location I mentioned? Still great. And guess who works there now? At least four of the middle-aged women who used to make this place run properly. That alone should tell you everything you need to know.
Atmosphere
Boring and irresponsible.
First, it’s grey, lifeless, and depressing. Years ago, they stripped away everything that made McDonald’s feel like McDonald’s and tried to turn it into the world’s worst café. Mission accomplished.
Second, and more importantly, they have an actual safety hazard. There are two exactly child-sized planters flanking the walkway that leads into the parking lot. They’re just the right size to completely hide a small child who suddenly runs into traffic. This has happened to me twice over the years, fortunately with only increased heart rate as a consequence. I reported it. They do not care.
So if your kid gets hit, here’s your evidence of a "foreseeable hazard" for the...
Read moreThis morning After receiving the most messed up order I've ever gotten through a drive-through I brought it back inside to get what I actually ordered, the nice gentleman at the front told me to keep the order so I gave it to the people in line and your very rude manager Mary Merriam Myra whoever said to give all of the food back. even though I told her that the worker said there is nothing they can do with that food and to keep it and after I had already given it away to the people in line she continued to force me to take back the food and give it to her claiming that she it needs it so she can throw it in to the waste told me that it cost McDonald's money but really it was her fault in the 1st place that I had all of this extra food and that she charged me. When someone screws up that bad in the service industry like McDonald's you would think that just letting the people have the food and moving on with your day would show that you care a little bit about the people you're serving and that you know and are taking responsibility for the screw up that you did Normally I wouldn't waste time creating a post about a McDonald's but that was the rudest manager I have ever dealt with in my life and I will no be taking my business to this location. Lakeworth is a few more exits up and doesn't have that extremely rude...
Read moreWent here last night. Ordered a sandwich, fries, and two snack wraps. I was looking at the screen while at the drive thru menu waiting for my total to pop up. It never did and the guy told me to just pull up for my total. The cashier at the first window hesitantly told me my total and I handed over my card. She handed me back the card without my receipt, which I thought was weird because every McDonalds I ever went to ALWAYS handed me a receipt. I asked for my receipt and pulled to the next window. That was when I realized she charged me extra for the other snack wrap. I pointed this out and the employee working the second window went got his manager. The manager said “Well, she didn’t know if it was going to charge extra or not”. Someone else pointed out “Well, it’s only 30 extra cents so....” Seriously??? So the cashier INTENTIONALLY withheld my receipt because she knew that my card was charged extra??? It’s not even about the 30 extra cents, it’s about being HONEST and employees here seem to be the exact opposite! It would have been nothing for the cashier or someone to man up and say “Hey I messed up your order, but let me go get my manager to help sort this out” because I know people make mistakes! Have been a regular customer here for awhile but will no longer be...
