This is a review of the quality of several menu items at two Fort Wort TX fast food chains near me, Taco Bell and Taco Bueno.
I was not paid to do this, I wanted to see if the same thing has happened to the quality and quantity of these two chain restaurants are similar to what I found when I did the same thing 10 years ago to the same area Arby's near my home.
What I did was order 3 tacos and 2 beef and bean burritos from each store and both times I ordered was early before lunch and just before the evening rush hour around 4:30 pm.
I have to keep this short as I think there will be a limit of characters for any comments from each chain so I will be brief and to the point.
TACOS: I started with Taco Bueno as I had visited this store for the last time around 2015 due to bad response from management about my complaints of cold food and lack of beef in my tacos. The tacos this time had beef and it seemed to be okay with the amount, lots of lettuce, some cheese and a topping of tomato. The crispy tacos stood up to the ingredients and the beef was not salty and seemed to have good texture, not watery.
Taco Bell had a similar amount of beef, less lettuce and a very small scattering of cheese. The shells got wet from the texture as the beef was more watery and very salty. Little lettuce and cheese and no tomato. The last taco I ate was so wet, it had stuck the tortilla to the paper wrapper and broke apart when I picked it up.
Taco Bueno took the prize for best tacos between the two, however for the price I won't be going back again, like last time as the next review on the burritos has Taco Bueno last and sorry in quantity and quality.
BURRITOS: Taco Bueno has almost no beef and more beans in it's Super Burrito. There was no cheese to detect as I opened the second one to inspect, not one piece of cheese could be found. The small amount of beef gives this a thumbs down for MIA beef and cheese.
Taco Bell had similar results but I could detect 2 pieces of cheese on the outside of the tortilla and was stuck to the paper, inedible. I did see on the second burrito there were pieces of raw onion, not known if it's supposed to be cooked but it did lend some flavor to the burrito along with some crunch, some people may not like this. The lack of cheese was the same and this to I give a thumbs down for no cheese and the amount of beef was different from the first one which had more beef. So the amount of ingredients was inconsistent between similar burrito ordered at the same time.
I have now written off both these stores and chains as I have better choices and healthier ingredients doing it myself and more than half the cost. Plus I am used to seeing burritos with sour cream, what happened to that? I hope you find this useful. Along with a ingredient nutritional menu, it would be nice to see if both would start giving customers a "guaranteed" amount of each ingredient confirmed by the food prepper using electronic scales to insure the right amounts of food are used in the order! As for me, I'm saving money and going back to home cooking on most my meals. I've been cooking since 1986 when I was divorced and learned to cook by watching Saturday cooking shows from 1986-1996 to impress the next wife... yes it worked. My chicken crepes with Volute sauce and broccoli are to die for and I make my...
Read moreTaco Bueno is a Tex-Mex fast-food chain that holds a special place in the hearts of many, and one of their standout menu items is undoubtedly the "Muchaco" along with their "Mexi Dips & Chips." Let me take you on a flavorful journey through my experiences with these delicious offerings.
First and foremost, Taco Bueno has always struck me with its warm and inviting atmosphere. Whether you're dining in or going through the drive-thru, there's a sense of familiarity that makes it a comfortable place to enjoy your meal. The cheerful colors and friendly staff contribute to a welcoming environment.
Now, let's dive into the Muchaco, a unique creation that combines the best of both worlds - a taco and a burrito. It's essentially a soft flour tortilla wrapped around seasoned ground beef, beans, lettuce, cheese, and tomatoes. What sets the Muchaco apart is the combination of textures and flavors. The tortilla is soft and pliable, providing the perfect vessel for the savory filling. The seasoned beef is well-seasoned and pairs beautifully with the creaminess of the beans, the crispness of the lettuce, and the freshness of the tomatoes. It's a handheld delight that's both satisfying and convenient.
Complementing the Muchaco is the Mexi Dips & Chips. These are a real treat for anyone who enjoys dipping their chips into a variety of flavorful sauces. The chips themselves are freshly made, thin, and perfectly crispy. They provide the ideal canvas for scooping up the trio of dips that come with the Mexi Dips & Chips order.
The first dip is the creamy queso, a Tex-Mex classic. It's rich, cheesy, and has just the right amount of spice to keep things interesting. The second dip is the chunky salsa, which offers a burst of fresh tomato flavor with a hint of heat. Lastly, there's the zesty guacamole dip, a creamy avocado concoction that adds a cool contrast to the other two dips.
What's particularly great about the Mexi Dips & Chips is the variety it brings to your meal. You can mix and match the dips to your heart's content, creating different flavor combinations with each bite. It's a perfect sharing snack or an indulgent treat for yourself.
Taco Bueno's commitment to quality and flavor is evident in these offerings. The ingredients are fresh, and the attention to detail in preparing each element of the Muchaco and the Mexi Dips & Chips is commendable. It's fast food with a Tex-Mex twist that consistently hits the mark.
The service at Taco Bueno has always been friendly and efficient in my experience. Whether you're dining in or going through the drive-thru, the staff ensures that you have everything you need to enjoy your meal, and they do it with a smile.
In conclusion, Taco Bueno's Muchaco and Mexi Dips & Chips are flavorful additions to their menu that capture the essence of Tex-Mex cuisine. Whether you're craving a hand-held delight like the Muchaco or looking to savor a variety of dips with your chips, Taco Bueno delivers a satisfying and delicious experience. It's fast food that doesn't compromise on quality, making it a go-to destination for...
Read moreLast night i went to this location and i was VERY surprised on how awful the manager was to the employees that work there. I ordered through the drive through and when i got my food i always double check my bag. I was missing one item. I wasn't even upset, i understand it can happen especially at a dinner rush. No big deal i thought. So i went back in with my receipt and let the cashier know. He then took my receipt over to the manager and she started yelling at him "IT'S NOT MY RESPONSIBILITY TO MAKE SURE PEOPLE GET THEY FOOD, GO IN THERE AND MAKE IT NOW" I was in shock. The cashier was very sweet and nice and even doubled my order that was missing. She continued to talk to the employees in a very loud and disrespectful way even told one employee that she was not moving fast enough and that she needed to move the hell out of her way. Omar was the one who helped me and he has very good customer service. I'm so sorry he has to be put in the position to be treated like that in a work place. I| will no longer be visiting...
