This on the border has really gone down hill, and I’m not sure why. I’ve been here more than a few times and I feel like it’s always a hit or miss. It’s either great food and great service or just absolutely terrible. Last night, we ordered takeout. My husband had a long day, wanted a chimichanga, etc. I ordered online for a 9pm pickup. Thankfully we got there a little early AND thankfully I screenshot all confirmations! When my husband went inside, they asked him if he’s sure this was the location i ordered to. Of course I’m sure. It’s the only on the border around. They said they had no pickup for us. Our $50 order was missing. He came back to the car, I gave him the confirmation number and the email. When he went back inside he showed them. They finally found it. The snarky girl informs him, “It’s for a future date.” He shows her the confirmation which very clearly states 2/6/19 9:00pm and her response? “Oh. Well it says future date.” They hand put in all the items, again, and we waited. What was supposed to be 15 minutes, was closer to 25. No apology. No compensation. Nothing. We had ordered a border brownie to share. When we got home, everything seemed fine. When it was time for dessert, I noticed something was off. The brownie, which usually has syrup and nuts and looks awesome, was just a regular brownie. Ok...I paid close to $7 for a regular brownie, that sucks but whatever. We go to each take a bite and the entire thing (except the top) was batter! I have no idea how they managed this, but it was literal batter with a semi cooked top. We couldn’t eat it. No one wants to get salmonella poisoning from a restaurants incompetence. Into the trash it went. The real kicker was that the restaurant was super dead for a weeknight. There was literally maybe 10 cars total in the parking lot (most of which I’m sure belonged to staff). How they managed to screw up so bad, is beyond me. We’ve been when it’s really, really busy and it’s been great. It seems like the deader they are, the more things are wrong. What really sucks is his birthday is next week and we had planned to go back to celebrate. Not after this. I’d rather just make the drive and...
Read moreIt was my first time there to eat. My daughter and her husband took me out to eat. It was around 6:30 or so August 4th 2018. My daughter ordered the guacamole duo from the menu while she was eating the guacamole she had ordered we found a very large piece of the guacamole peeling in it. We called our waiter over to tell him about it. All he said was at least it wasn't a cricket. I was shocked about that comment. He never said sorry about that or let me get you another bowl. He just walked off. We were sitting outside section of the restaurant. Then just a few minutes later the same waiter had come out one of the doors from inside. He was carrying a tray that had a couple of glasses with drinks in them and an empty to go cup. He dropped the to go cup on the ground. It did have the straw in the lid. And the lid was on the top of the cup. The cup fell straw side down. The straw did touch the ground. He bent down picked the cup up off the ground and placed it back onto the tray. He proceeded to the next table set the same cup down and took that customer drink and poured it into the cup. Then he walked off. I wanted to let everyone know that our waiter that night was Steven. After what I had seen I will probably will not be going back to on the boarder again. I will be looking for another restaurant to eat at. Looking at the first picture the piece of avocado peeling is on the left side of the bowl inside the bowl. The second picture is what I had...
Read moreWas not greeted at the door. Was going to sit in the bar at a booth anyway, but the hostess is standing there to greet you, right? Service was quick, but waiter was not friendly. Not rude either, but multiple "Thank You" when we did get served was met with no answer, which I find very impolite (and not smart when your working for tips). The food was good and consistent with others in the chain, but ordered a bowl of queso and got a bowl with a cup of queso in it. You need to ask for plates, if you don't want to slop your cheese and salsa over the table top. This seems to be the case at all the On the Border Bars, guess they are trying to save dish soap. They have huge draft beers, but it mostly thick glass, and isn't any where near worth the $5.19 a glass they charged us. After setting for a while with no beer, no salsa, and no check, we decided to cut our stay short. we then waited longer after asking for our check The hostess watched us walk out with out even a word, just like when we came in. There is obliviously a major management and moral problem there. After having a similar experience at the Bryant Irving location, my wife and I decided we probably won't patronize On the Border for quite a while. We found Boomer Jacks, with great food, friendly environment, and large drafts for $3 every day. If you are going to spend money for a time out, you might as well go somewhere you don't regret and don't...
