Some friends and I attended a High Tea at the Rose Garden. This is a charming location within a boutique store. There are many seating options yet it still feels like a small, intimate setting. The attention from the staff was impressive.
Now, the tea service! The teacups all had a lovely rose design and they sat well in your hand. Not too small, not too big. The first course was a variety of small sandwich and more savory finger foods. They were lovely! As a picky eater I only nibbled on some. But that's more a critique of me, not the service. The second course had the cutest bite sized scones and a mound of clotted cream. I wanted to get a plate all for myself. It was amazing. The third course desserts were super yummy. I've got a massive sweet tooth. Someone that prefers more mild options might not be such a fan, so be aware. The chocolate cake was just as rich and fantastic as advertised. The winner for me was the lemon tart--my favorite!!
My only complaint would be to have more tea offerings. Generally speaking, I don't enjoy rose flavors, so the tea itself was just okay. I realize most people aren't as picky about hot tea in Texas as I am!! It was brewed nice and strong and served at the perfect temperature. And your cup was always full! (If you're like me and like a specific balance of sugar in your tea, simply let them know not to fill you up yet. They are...
Read moreI hosted a birthday party here. The food and server were excellent. However, there is minimal time to set up your party. Our event was at 11:30 and they allowed us into the space 15 mins before. We found a cart outside the restaurant and put together flower arrangements there and wheeled everything in right before the event. The staff was not accommodating and waited until after 11:30 to let anyone even in the restaurant in. Our party was standing outside the gate of the restaurant. The more gracious thing to do would be to ask people if they are with the private party and allow them in. Also, we felt rushed out of our event because another party literally came in and took over the space. I do think the management should have at least 30mins- 1 hour in between each party to allow for staff to set up, clean tables and prepare for the next event. Many people do not want to use the center pieces you have. Before the events are booked, I would ask the customers what type of decor they plan on bringing. Based on this information, allow for optimal time to set up and tear down. How it was handled with my event was very...
Read moreWarning: do not sit under a ceiling fan. Service: asked for tuna sandwich on toast. The bread was not toasted; apology offered but no offer to send it back for this simple correction, and they were not busy. Atmosphere: music was not too loud but certainly not in keeping with a Tea Room. Of all dining choices available, this one is low on my list. Update: months later, little has changed, except this ‘tea room’ is gradually taking on the atmosphere of a diner. The servers and hostesses are increasingly demonstrating they are there because they did not fit in anywhere else. The music continues to emulate what you would hear at a road side diner, or any place where they prefer you eat and go. If they must disturb the ambience with music, then they should at least make us listen to something relaxing. Update a month later: we were first patrons and had to brush food crumbs off of our chairs. Music still awful. Certainly wish they would go back to being a quieter atmosphere more fitting of a tea room. Obviously, previous patrons agree. Several empty tables today. We will give them another chance but...
