Velvet Taco — Restaurant in Fort Worth

I visited the restaurant today around 3:15 PM to place an order. I didn’t receive my food until 3:30 because my original order had been given to a DoorDasher. I understand that mistakes happen, and that part wasn’t a major issue. What concerned me was what I witnessed while waiting for my replacement order.

A man wearing a yellow hat and green shirt, who appeared to be a manager, was helping make food while holding a phone in one hand. I saw him pick up a bag off the ground and continue preparing food without changing his gloves. Even though he was stepping in to help his team, he did not replace his contaminated gloves before handling food. I watched as he continued preparing multiple taco orders this way, which created a serious food safety concern.

Additionally, another employee on the line, a Hispanic gentleman, dropped a large silver bowl on the floor and then placed it back on the counter without sanitizing it. These actions made me uncomfortable and worried about cross-contamination and hygiene standards.

I am confident your staff has been trained in food safety, but proper procedures must be followed consistently to protect customers’ health. Unfortunately, because of what I saw, I chose to throw away my food rather than risk eating something that might have been contaminated.

I hope this matter is taken seriously and addressed with the team to ensure it doesn’t...

Placed an order over the phone. The attendant who answered the phone stated that the order would be ready in about 10-15 min. I arrived about 18 minutes after I placed the order. I pull in the drive-thru, and the lady at the service window stated that she couldn't find my order. She goes and checks, comes back and informs me that the person who took my order over the phone didn't enter it into their system correctly, and unfortunately it would be about 15 minutes until my order would be ready.

She thens tell me to pull into the waiting area, and they will bring it out to my car when it's ready. She apologies for the delay, AND not only that she also tells me to not worry about payment and she's going to take care of my order. Wow! All in all an additional 15 min wait is a minor inconvenience, but the fact that she would comp a meal for a family of 4 for a minor inconvenience is supremely generous and OUTSTANDING customer service. Acts like this is what turns a person from "never coming back" to "life long patron".

I have been living with a thrill since Velvet Taco opened up in our area! I have visited on numerous occasions, but last night particularly stuck out to me!

I got birrias and the blanco queso, which were both quite delicious, and I had lovely service from the restaurant manager Gilbert, who was frankly, a gem! The food production is efficient and satisfying and the kitchen delivers with all expectations met!

Velvet Taco always has great portions and a creative menu that you can assuredly find something new in! I personally have made it my mission to try everything that's on the menu as a signature and additionally get the WTF (weekly taco feature) when I come in!

My recommendation for a taco also happens to be a fan favorite and it is the Spicy Tikka Chicken taco! It is my go-to and I think you can't go wrong with it!
