I will begin with the food. The complimentary chips and salsa are decent, but they serve the salsa in tiny containers therefore it was empty more often than not waiting for a refill. I had fajita nachos (half chicken half steak) and they were very average. Not bad, but nothing special by any means. The chicken was better than the beef as the beef was a bit rubbery. My friend had chicken taco salad and said it was on the same level as the nachos.
Now for the service. Have you ever been somewhere and felt like you were unwanted and a burden to your host? Well if you ever want to feel that way I suggest you eat at Villa Grande!
After being seated by a host who never said one word to us we waited a while for a waitress to come over. Time enough for my friend to go to the restroom and come back then for me to go to the restroom and come back....about 5 minutes after that our drink order was taken. Our waitress had zero personality, never smiled and spoke very poor English making communication difficult. After my food came out I asked for more salsa (to help liven up the bland nachos), but never received any. But I guess I can't blame her because she was distracted by the cell phone call she received AND ASWERED while I was making my request. I mean she legitimately answered her cell phone and walked away while I was telling her what I wanted. That is just a different kind of special right there. The "manager" on duty was walking around with a sour look on her face while texting on her cell phone the entire time we were there, so I guess personal phones are acceptable for employees even at the expense of proper customer service.
So after this terrible experience we pay and leave the restaurant. On our way out we see 4 male employees sitting in the lobby area and they all stare at us as if they are wanting to challenge us to a brawl. I felt like I was in the wrong neighborhood wearing the wrong colors! Not one time during the entire visit did anyone say thank you, smile, or extend any type of common courtesy. After we left my friend said that it was the worst service she ever received in her life.
Upon reading other reviews it seems that they over-charge and add extra tip money to the bill regularly, so I will be checking that and will post another review if that is the case. ENTER AT YOUR OWN PERIL. You've been...
Read moreFirst off, the food, if and when you get it, is pretty good. With that in mind, after a less than stellar visit the first time, I decided to give them a second chance. Bad mistake. Both times, I sat at the bar and ordered off the menu. Both times, it appears the server forgot to put in the order. The first time, after 20-30 minutes he came back and asked me what it was I ordered at which time I think he put in the order which was delivered after 10 or 15 minutes. The second time even that didn't happen. After two beers and an hour waiting, I told the server to cancel my fish taco order, paid my tab and went next door to Jimmy Johns, which got me in and out lickedy split. I asked the server what happened to my order, but he appeared to be pretty clueless. Then again, his English skills were not very good, I'm not sure he 'got' it.
Additionally, the underside of the bar has a series of razor sharp plastic zip ties that secure a rope lighting system to the bar. Unless you like pain, and are immune to hepatitis, tetanus or even AIDS, I strongly suggest not sitting at the bar. I cut my knee on the offending ties. (Heaven knows how many other people have cut themselves). I advised the server, who didn't seem to understand, and I even sent an email to the restaurant management, who did not respond, despite a statement on their website that promised prompt responses within 24 hours.
In short, I would say, good food, but the place...
Read moreMy Family and I decide to come eat here after the Rangers game! I don’t know where to start, so first off the service wasn’t the best! We had a young lad that did a decent job but everyone else not so much! At first we don’t know who was our waiter, it’s like they just ignored us and attend to other tables that seem to be their priority, while we were one the first tables to walk in! My mother was starting to loose her patience and we were bout to walk out, until we ask another waiter to get us more chips and salsa! Although like I said the young lad did his job, so props to him!
Next comes the food! To be honest the food was alright, no so much flavors but food is food! In my opinion they should improve on the cooking and at least have passion in doing the job! The steak and shrimp I order was bland like no seasoning added! Although the rice was up to my standards!
Finally, I’m not too sure if my family will ever come back to Villa Grande! If we do, we hope they have at least a good amount of staff and have a better experience than today! We been to other Mexican restaurants that shows a lot of fun, passion and at least a good amount of staff! Also the food is always on point!
To end this review, to my fellow family’s that are reading this review, the choice is yours! Go to Villa Grande and have you time/patience wasted or eat anywhere else! My family and I aren’t certain if we ever return here, but by the looks of it...
