Stopped by Woody’s Tavern this past Sunday and couldn’t have been happier with the vibe. This place is a gem—clean, laid-back, and the kind of spot where you can just kick back without any nonsense. The beer? Ice-cold and exactly what I needed. Ordered the pork nachos and was pleasantly surprised when they hit the table piled high with fresh smoked pulled pork—not that processed junk you’d expect from a lesser joint. Quality over quantity, and it shows. Now, I peeked at some of the bad reviews before coming in, and I’ve got to say—some folks need to chill. Half of ‘em seem to come from single moms who apparently missed the giant “21 and over” sign by the door. Reading’s tough, I get it. Others hint at some discrimination vibes, but if that were the case, I’d be slapping a sixth star on this place just for keeping it real. Let’s be honest, though—Woody’s isn’t here to babysit or play nice with the easily offended. The bar itself is top-notch—friendly staff, solid atmosphere, and they clearly know how to keep the riffraff out. Only gripe? The menu’s a bit slim. They should add bratwurst and run a campaign: “Brats outside, brats inside.” Genius, right? I’d give it a full 5 stars if they expanded it, but I’d rather have a handful of killer options than a book full of garbage. Looks like I’ve found my new go-to for sports Sundays. Woody’s gets a 4.5 from me—rounded up because they keep the brats (the annoying kind) where they...
Read moreSignage, signage, signage! The bathrooms aren't clearly marked. I walked into the ladies just by luck, but quickly backed out and looked all around the door frames (no doors) for any clue if I was in the right bathroom. I assumed it was unisex until I left and was able to see a "Ladies" halogen light above the first entrance.
Unfortunatley, my husband made the same mistake. He walked to the same area as I did earlier, not knowing the men's restroom was on the other side of the bar and ended up accidently walking into the ladies restroom. He was quickly confronted by the bouncer and told he needed to leave the bar. The bouncer was polite enough and thankfully didn't assert his size, which he easily could have done. We left without incident but the sting of getting kicked out was pretty harsh. We're not "gypsies" or from out-of-state. We're just a boring middle-aged couple who apparently can't read halogen signs.
The bar needs to make the restroom signs WAY more clear and not be quite to quick to kick people out over an...
Read moreWoodys tavern absolutely discriminates against Native Americans, as well as citizens from other states! Do your research and ask for yourself and if you have ANY questions about their “policy” you can email me and I can give you a ver batim response on identification requirements in their establishment as well as in the State Of Texas. Their response to my daughter was and IS VERY DISCRIMINATORY and will not go unnoticed as the discrimination of Native Americans is the longest running and active discrimination in US history. Shame on Woodys tavern for your blatant disregard and your open and willingness to carry this kind of discrimination into the year of 2023. Additionally, condescending, humiliation or degradation of any person, Native American, disabled or otherwise should not and will not be tolerated. Not only do you get a one star review. we give you a thumbs down. Sincerely, Tribal Members of the Great Seminole Nation...
