It was Christmas night and I truly understand that this place may have been understaffed or crowded. Although in saying that we did not wait to be seated. So the awful experience begins...my husband, my self, and our 3 children place our drink order and appetizer. Well over 10 minutes go by and we are still waiting on our drinks. After asking a few times, the waitress keeps saying it's coming (her infamous words she will be repeating to us all night). Oh, let me not forget to tell you we were sat at our table approximately 640 pm. Finally, our drinks come along with cold appetizers. We suck it up, the kids don't mind, furthermore, we have an 8p movie to catch (literally about a 2 minute drive). So, we place our dinner order around 7pm. As we await our food we notice that everyone around us is getting there food. Everyone as in the people who were clearly seated after us. We ask the waitress is our order coming, her words again "it's coming". By 7:45 our food was still not on our table so my husband called the movie theater (we order tickets online) to see if we could switch for a later time. Thank goodness that went well. We got our food at 8:07 pm over an hour after placing it along with, I'm sorry we are out of mashed potatoes. My husband ordered turkey OVER mashed potatoes and gravy. Would of been nice to know that before he placed his order. Food was cold...his meal looked like it was slapped on a plate from a can. Awful! So I split my hamburger with him, we couldn't eat our fries because they were burnt, very hard. By this time we call the manager over, Jim Tomko in which we quietly and politely complained his response was he would give $10 off our next visit. Wow! Well I told him that would not work out he at the least needs to take of my husbands meal because he didn't even touch it. He stated he would do that. I'm completely appalled by the lack of care this so called manager had for paying customers. We are not the ones to complain but something had to be said. The ultimate kicker of this story as we were waiting for the manager to take off my husbands meal, a couple that was seated beside our table ("one" of the tables that received their food before ours) walked up to our table and apologized for what transpired at that restaurant and said that manager should of wrote off the whole ticket. Read moreI understand that this IHOP is always busy, essentially that was the same experience we had today. With that being said we had a table of 5. Or waiter took quite a while to get to us. Our drinks subsequently came out. When it was time to place the order in addition to the food that I ordered, I ordered food to go. I was the last one to order food because of this and wanted to make sure that there was no question about the to go order.
The first person to order was very specific about his order. When his food arrived there was missing food and undercooked poached eggs. This was brought up before the order was ever placed about the request for the way that the egg should be cooked. During this time, the restaurant had filtered out quite a bit and there were a lot of empty seats. At this point there were more servers than there were tables that were filled. What I'm trying to say is it wasn't busy anymore. The server had a little bit of an attitude about the situation with the poached eggs and advised that it would be a while because they were really busy. Which obviously was not the case. My friend ended up getting the manager involved explaining the situation where they switched out service to somebody else. She was amazing, and even she was a little concerned about the way she noticed our waiter was handling us. Because she kept walking by us we were asking her to help us out because our waiter had disappeared. She ended up becoming our waitress. As we were in the process of trying to get the check I asked the waitress about the to go order. She said she would go check and she came back a short time later a little frazzled. She advised that the order was never placed in their system. She took care of it it was cooked and brought out and we ended up leaving. That waitress I wish I knew her name did an amazing job. The waiter a negative zero. Because of the way the service went I won't be stepping back in there the food was mediocre at best. Read moreWent to IHop Fredericksburg, Va last night & was greeted by James, & I have to share: What an awesome gentleman he is! Lord, please bless this child... ☝️💓🙏🏼 Our Server is the best I've seen in a long, long time; which is a pity. I stop going out to eat, when Service is bad, because that to me means, the food was not made with love. & food made with anger & stress, is like drinking poison to me... No! I'm not exaggerating! 😜🤐🤣 It's true!!!
Anyway, back to Sir James, we had the best time, ordering our food. We had been singing & giggling in the car & stopped out of sheer hunger 🍛 . . . He greeted us at the door & sat us at out table, & gave us menu's. I was not sure what to get, but we were still singing when he approached us. He probably thought we were drunk, but in truth we might have been on sugar, driving from Massachusetts to Atlantic City, then here was no piece of cake. We were so, so tired! So, when he asked if we were ready to order, I told him: "You have to sing it to me. He said what? Thinking he didn't hear right. Then, I reapeated, you have to sing to us whatever you need to say, & he obliged. 🎶🥰🎶 So we had a Singing Server last night. He deserves a raise. I will definitely come back to this very same I-Hop in hopes to get my singing Server again. If you see James, be kind to him. He works very hard. The food was awesome too. So my sincere thanks to the cook & all who helped run this place so we could have a much needed meal. Thanks I-Hop. Treat James right & give him a raise, 🥳 even if it is $1.00 more. He sang to us. Not every one would do that to keep a Customer Happy. 🤩
Bathroom are not great, You would only get 4 stars, but James alone deserved the 5 stars... So I-Hop, you owe him. Prices are high to me. But then again, everything is these days...😓
