My family and I have never been to Silver Diner before so we decided to go and see what all the hype was about. When we arrived, we were greeted with a bright welcoming smile from the hostess. She welcomed us to the Silver Diner and brought us to our table. She informed us that our server would be with us momentarily.
The diner was very busy so we assumed we would have a bit of a wait before we were attended to. However our server Alisha came over within seconds of us sitting down. She was very pleasant and introduced herself and asked if we have ever dined at the silver diner before. We explained that this was our first time. She was very eager to tell us about their menu and that the majority of their food came locally and it’s always fresh and never frozen. After going over some of the menu and the healthy choice options available. She said that she would get us started with some drinks and we could take our time looking over the menu. We were surprised to know that even some of the beverages offered at the diner are house made. They have their own house made sodas and other refreshments available. She could tell we were a little overwhelmed by the different options and variety that we were not expecting when we decided to eat at a diner. So while we explored the beverages, she was very patient and proceeded to get us glasses of water and give us time to decide on our drinks.
While reviewing the menu, the prices were more than we expected, but after learning how they prepare and purchase all of their ingredients and entrees the prices seemed fair. Alisha continued to be patient with us as we spent several minutes looking at the menu. She was very busy assisting other customers but still was very attentive to our table, and never once seemed frustrated that we could not decide what we wanted. She reassured us that there was no rush, and that she was available if we had any questions.
Once we placed our order, we observed the diner and could see how well the staff treated all of the guests and how hard the kitchen was working to prepare entrées for their full dining room. Everyone was so welcoming and seemed happy. The atmosphere was a positive experience. One of the managers even stopped and chatted with us for a little bit. We were so impressed by the attention each guest was receiving despite the overwhelming amount of people in the Diner. The staff was not stressed they were organized, efficient, attentive, friendly and welcoming. Our food was delivered to us quickly and not only looked amazing it was amazing! Our entrées came out better than we could have imagined. It was perfectly prepared and plated. Alisha made sure we had everything we needed and never had an empty drink on the table. The service was excellent and we were beyond satisfied with our experience. Definitely not what we expected. We had great conversations with Alisha as well as other staff members who would Periodically check on us. This was every bit worth the higher menu prices. You get what you pay for and this Diner exceeded our expectations.
We will be recommending diner to our family and friends, and this is our new favorite place. I definitely think we will become regulars at the silver diner and Look forward to coming back again!
So if you’re looking for amazing food, amazing service, and a variety of menu options look no further! And for anybody that wants a good cocktail, you should check out...
Read moreMy husband and I recently visited Silver Diner hoping for a nostalgic experience with classic comfort food, vintage drinks & retro decor. While there was certainly some high points to the visit a few aspects missed the mark for a diner that promises a step back in time. First the service was exceptional. Our server Bayli was attentive, friendly, and made sure we were well taken care of throughout our meal. A special shoutout to one of the managers Jeff who went above & beyond to ensure we had the best experience when I gave feedback about my drink. He personally mixed a new one and brought it to our table with a warm smile showing genuine effort.
However the diners ambiance & decor didn't quite live up to the retro vibes we were hoping for. I was hoping for a cozy nostalgic atmosphere --- think checkered floors, neon lights, mabey a Big jukebox-- it felt more modern than mid-century. It didn't transport us to another time like we had hoped for.
I appreciated some of the farm to table options incorporated into some of the menu options. The menu offered an interesting twist with top shelf cocktails, bottles of wine, and hand crafted beer but lacked selection on classic diner drink options. While the upscale drink options were nice, i feel they strayed from the core of what a Silver Diner experience is known for.
As for the food -- the presentation was spot on - however the flavor and preparation were inconsistent. I expected classic & comforting flavors that are simple yet satisfying and unfortunately the dishes fell short on that. I ordered the recommendation of my waitress the philly sub. The bun was thick & fresh but lacked a proportionate amount of meat. I usually love sautéed onions but theirs was glazed in a sweet & spicy sauce that threw off the classic flavors you would expect from any philly sub. My husband ordered a cheeseburger with bacon med well. It was dry overcooked and flavorless. The red pepper jam (condiment) was excellent, and the fries were ok.
All in all Silver Diner had its moments. Excellent customer service, a manager that truly cares, some fresh local sourced ingredients but it felt like it was caught between a retro diner concept & an upscale eatery.
With some tweaks to the ambiance, more classic diner drink & dessert options & more of a focus on traditional well prepared comfort foods this place has the potential to live up to the 1950's experience it...
Read moreif ur vegan u need to give silver diner a try!! the exterior of silver diner caught my attention prior to opening so i looked at the menu and was very pleasantly surprised (and impressed) to see 5+ vegan entrees we got the oat protein pancakes, just egg benedict, and mocha latte milkshake but there’s also vegan breakfast tacos, vegan sausage, and like a handful more vegan entrees and sides. we also got black coffee- they don’t have vegan creamer but they have oat milk which worked just fine:) the protein pancakes were super super good. they had these green things in it resembling edamame which i didn’t mind, im assuming it’s part of the protein content. the blueberries were super yummy and the pancakes themselves were SUPER soft and fluffy. the syrup and whipped cream were super good as well. i was content with the pancakes but HOLY MOLY !!!!! the eggs benedict was another level. i’ve been vegan for 10 years and had few dishes that have mastered the culmination of flavors this well. the just egg was cooked to be perfectly fluffy and was paired with toasted sourdough with a generous amount of pesto, arugula and spinach, tomato, and doused in an insanely delicious cheese sauce. seriously unlike anything i’ve ever had before. it also came with a side of fruit that was super sweet and fresh. the mocha latte milkshake was good but it didn’t very much taste like a milkshake (compared to the shakes at hipcityveg), it was watery like a regular iced mocha but maybe i misunderstood? it was under the milkshake section so i understood it to be blended with vanilla ice cream but perhaps i was mistaken. it was also kinda pricey at $10 so i probably wouldn’t get it again but it was tasty additionally, the staff at the doors were super energetic, welcoming, and kind and our waiter chad was super accommodating as well overall if ur vegan definitely pull up because vegan options in fredericksburg are few and far between so this place is a goldmine!! will...
