While staying at French Lick we knew we were going to overpay for everything. It would be easier to handle if the food was actually good. Unfortunately the pizza was disgusting, the calzone was overfilled with ricotta cheese, and the stromboli was so poorly put together it didn't even come close to resembling a stromboli. The pizza sauce tasted like watered down tomato paste, no seasoning to speak of. And the cheese left a lot to be desired. The pretzel was good, but it appeared that the nacho cheese sauce had been in sitting in the container (and overcooked) for quite some time. So very disappointing. I wish we could get that money back, but we ate it because we were too tired and hungry to wait for anything else. We also ordered online and they actually didn't look at our order until our kids went to pick it up and were told they wished people wouldn't order online!
Bowling was fun. It took 4 of us a little over an hour to bowl 2 games. We paid for an hour, as it was a better deal - and was very thankful since there wasn't anyone waiting to bowl, that they were a little lenient on the time so we could finish out the second game, so make sure to consider that when deciding what you want to do in regards to paying. You have to keep your own score on paper, but we didn't mind, as we taught our kids how to do it.
The arcades were ok, just wish there were more, but with covid I don't think they could have fit anymore games in the small room. We expected it to be pricey to play, it looked like most games were $1, so not too bad. The kids enjoyed the Space invaders game, and if you were good at it, you really got your...
Read moreMy wife and I decided to do some bowling while in French Lick and this was the cause of our trip to Pluto Lanes/Pizzeria. I will say that we did have fun but there was much to be improved upon. The staff seemed very disorganized with a staff member covering multiple different areas - this led to wait times for customers trying to get bowling shoes or a drink from Pluto's Well. The bowling is old school, where you keep your own score on paper. I didn't mind it but it is worth noting as this is different from any other bowling I have ever been to. You have to pay for bowling at the Pizzeria around the corner and the staff there seemed irrated to be doing anything with the bowling section. Then there is another employee at the bowling counter who you get your shoes from. Again this is just all around an odd set up.
The other issue I have is price. You have to pay $40 for an hour of lane time. It does not matter how many people are in your party. So for larger parties it is cost effective but for my wife and I it was $20 each. This is by far the most expensive proce I have ever paid for bowling. The pricing should be per person and by game but due to the outdated nature of the alley, I'm sure this would be difficult for them to execute.
It also would really help the atmosphere with some kind of music going on or something to life the spirits. As is, it leaves a bit to be desired with the choices they have made in regards to set up. Despite these issues, we still had fun and I would recommend bowling here but there are only 6 lanes so capacity can get...
Read moreI've been going here annually with my family for over five years now. The chef is the coolest bro, and he whips up some mean pies in this cool little bowling arcade. It is wonderful Chicago deep dish and New York style pizza that is far beyond what you would expect in a tiny Indiana town. My Chicago native grandparents have declared it on par with Giordanno's. The best time to go is around Thanksgiving, because he makes this turkey and stuffing deep dish which is unlike anything. It is honestly better than Thanksgiving dinner itself. All of his pizza is good, an essential for anyone staying...
