Tried "Na Nah Thong" -- Not Quite Street Food, But Not Bad Either!
My mom, brother, and I decided to check out "Na Nah Thong," a new Thai-Lao restaurant that advertises itself as serving Street Food. It's located in a nice, clean area across from River Park with plenty of parking--so far, so good.
We were promptly greeted by a friendly young male host and seated within a few minutes. The space was clean, and the menu was impressively extensive, with helpful descriptions for each dish. Service started off on the right foot--ice water and menus were brought out right away.
Now here's the thing: despite the signage and branding, the place doesn't really feel like a Street Food restaurant. The dishes we saw being served to nearby tables looked more upscale, and the prices were more in line with full-service dining than the fast, affordable Street Food you'd expect. Not necessarily a dealbreaker--just a bit misleading.
Our server took a while to reach us, but she was managing a large group that arrived before us, so it was understandable. She was pleasant and friendly once she did take our order. We went with a variety of dishes to share:
Chicken with Panang Curry White Steamed Rice Loo Pho Noodles Pad Khra Pao with Beef Veggie Egg Rolls Thai Iced Tea
Unfortunately, the food took well over 35 minutes to arrive. That's a long wait--especially for a place calling itself Street Food, which is typically served quickly in smaller portions. My mom even started complaining about the hard, wooden bench seating that became uncomfortable to sit, so my brother went out to his truck to grab a foam cushion.
When the food finally started coming out, here's how it stacked up:
Thai Iced Tea - Extremely sweet. I love Thai-Vietnamese drinks and frequent many boba shops, so I know how they should taste. This one was so sugary that I had to dilute it with ice water just to enjoy it.
Veggie Egg Rolls - A highlight of the meal. It was hot, crispy, flavorful, and not greasy. The fish sauce-based dipping sauce was tangy and delicious.
Loo Pho Noodles - Just okay. It had the usual mix of meats and toppings, but the broth, while flavorful, wasn't hot enough--possibly sitting too long before serving.
Pad Khra Pao with Beef, Rice & Egg - One of the better dishes. The rice was cooked perfectly, the over-easy egg was done well, and the minced beef was flavorful with a medium spice level and a nice basil kick. Good portion size, too.
Panang Curry with Chicken - Disappointing. The sauce was watery and lacked the rich texture you'd expect. The flavor was fine, but the dish was light on chicken and heavy on filler vegetables like baby corn. It also lacked the usual green peas and sliced bell peppers typically found in Panang curry.
Overall:
The food was decent but inconsistent, and there's definitely room for improvement. The long wait, overly sweet drink, watery curry, and protein-light portions held the experience back. Also, this isn't street food--not in speed, pricing, or atmosphere. It feels more like a casual fusion sit-down restaurant.
That said, the staff was friendly, the restaurant was clean, and a couple of dishes were solid. For now, I'd give it 3-stars. With a few tweaks--faster service, better balance in the dishes, and more consistency--it has...
Read moreAccording to the missus who ordered the Thai boat, it was done well and pretty good. The taste was pretty authentic, likely higher on the coconut side which isn't to my appeal, but after including the add-ons on the side (chili oil, jalapeno serreno, a pinch of sugar, and lemon) the flavor came along just fine for my liking. She loved the variety and plentiful choice of meat in the Thai boat.
The nam khao was great. We were glad it came with a lemon, as we didn't get our requested "extra lemon" but that is completely fine since the nam khao came with lemon.
Overall a great experience, and our server was amazing and great. (06/13/2025 @ 1500)
Funny story, we were here roughly 5-6 months ago when the restaurant was still under its grand opening. The menu was a single piece of paper, the house was packed, and the service was, well... I want to say it was horrible, but I'm sure they were extremely busy, too busy to return to service a couple that waited roughly 25 minutes outside on the tables under the shade. We walked out that day and went to The Chicken Shack next door... not our best decision that day.
Overall 4.5 from us and would definitely return to try more from Na Nah...
Read moreWhat a pleasant surprise when we came across this gem during one of our errands run in Riverpark area. I knew this place had to be good when we walked in as all the tables were occupied. We started off with the papaya salad as our appetizer. The cabbage and green papaya are so crunchy and you can tell the ingredients are fresh. Every bite is packed with flavour and texture. For the main course we ordered green curry with rice and the drunken noodle (medium spice). I never had drunken noodle before but I'll have to say that this won't be the last. Last but not the least, we ordered mango sticky rice for dessert. I'm a big fan of mango sticky rice and have had many from different restaurants. But I have to say, their mango sticky rice is by far my ABSOLUTE FAVOURITE! There's corn and taro embedded in the sticky rice and its such a great addition in my opinion. With the quality of food, I can say that the price is very reasonably priced. We also had the pleasure to meet one of the owners/chef! All in all, food was excellent and the staff/servers are very welcoming and just super pleasant. An easy 10/10 in my opinion. I can't wait to come back and try their...
