I wanted to start off by saying: the food is delicious. I’ve been here many times and never had a problem with the food or atmosphere. We decided to come today for my friend’s birthday dinner, but unexpectedly had the most horrendous, unexpected, and unique experience with our server.
We didn’t catch his name, but he seemed to be in his twenties. I went with 3 of my friends. First, one of my friends brought a couple drinks that we bought close by since it would rot in the car. Right as he saw us sitting down, our server started making fun of my friend. When my friend asked for more time to order, he said: “Of COURSE you need more time to order. You brought 2 drinks in!” And after this, every time my friend opened her mouth to say something, he would throw insults such as how slow she is taking to order. He also made fun of her for saying “dumplings” and not “gyoza.” Throughout this entire dinner, he kept coming back to ask her if she wants to order something else but in a very awfully annoyed tone to make fun of her. The thing is, we took everything he said in the beginning because we thought he was just a talkative, sociable person who has sarcastic humor. But this wasn't this case as he continued to say things that genuinely hurt us.
He also made fun of my 2 other friends. Both of them were drawing in their small sketchbooks while waiting for the food to come (which was not coming any time soon because after we ordered, he simply just stood next to our table.) He asked one of my friends to see her drawings, which we initially appreciated because we thought he was curious and wanted to say something nice about our friend’s art. After some talking he says to my friend: “I bet you’re into Japanese stuff right? Are you Japanese?” She says no; my friend is Viet. And he says: “I bet you WANT to be Japanese.” At this point, all of us are dumbfounded. Why was he not taking our order to the back so our food can be made? And what kind of comment was that: I bet you WANT to be Japanese? Who is this guy and why is he making comments like this? We all tried our best to play nice; my friend awkwardly laughed and said no, and he continued to make fun of her and say yes, she was, simply because she was drawing. It gets worse from here; he asked my other friend to show her drawing, and he said: “Oh… it’s not THAT bad.” I could see the hurt coming onto my friend’s face. All of my friends are incredibly talented artists who have spent years of work improving their craft. We bring our small sketchbooks during our hangouts to draw together to bond over our love for art. But this server absolutely crushed us with these unsolicited insults that we never asked for. He had the audacity to make negative comments about our art when we were just trying to enjoy our dinner time together. Who the hell IS this server and why is he here???
We have no idea why he was being so rude to us; we just wanted to have a peaceful girls night for my friend’s birthday. We were never one to cause conflict so we took every insult he threw at us, even though we were contemplating on asking for the manager or simply just leaving. This is only just a bit of what he said; you can imagine what the rest of the hour was like.
My friends and I lost our appetite halfway through the experience to the point where some of us didn’t even eat what we ordered. We’ve always loved Kyuramen, but this one experience left a horrible taste in our mouths. We will NEVER be coming back here ever again because of the memories created from this experience. If you go here, please do not let this person be your server. Order your food, eat, pay, and leave; don’t humor this person as he will continue...
Read moreOverall this is a nice place to have an outing or date night. The drinks from the TBAAR are really good and I enjoyed the pork bao. We tried the Kyushu Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen and to be honest it wasn’t as good as I expected it to be. The ramen is very average and a bit bland. There is no depth of flavor in the broth and the toppings are a bit limited. The Chashu pieces that they gave were the thinnest pieces I’ve ever gotten at a ramen place. The spice level was perfect and the noodles were cooked perfectly, but as for everything else it was a bit underwhelming especially for the price. We ordered two appetizers to try out: the classic takoyaki octopus balls and shrimp tempura. The shrimp tempura was fried and prepared perfectly, the crispiness was on point. It was just a tad bland compared to others I’ve had. The takoyaki balls were good too but I’ve had better. They need to work a bit more on the flavor aspect. If you like simple seasoning then it should be fine, but if you’ve tasted a lot of other better variations then this will be very average for you. The drinks we chose to try were: the Thai iced tea that comes with the combo (I added boba), the black tea latte with brown sugar (with pudding), and the sea salt milk foam green tea (with boba). The brown sugar milk tea and salt milk foam green tea blew me away. Will definitely be back for more of those drinks. As for the Thai tea, I was excited for it because it looked so nice in those cups and in the photos but it ended up tasting below average. Not sure if I just had a bad batch, but it really let me down. I wouldn’t go back for ramen but I’d give their omurice a try next and I’ll definitely be back for the TBAAR. Wabi house still takes the cake for best ramen in the area for the best price. Their appetizers are also better. For the price we paid for this meal it would be a fraction of that for better quality at Wabi House. But I did enjoy the atmosphere and the layout of the restaurant. The lines do get long and the wait time can get to over 3 hours at first so I’d recommend making a reservation prior so you don’t have to wait long. We made ours a day ahead via Google and it took a few minutes to be approved and confirmed. It’s very easy.

Read moreAs a first time experience. This was a disappointment. At the start it was okay, we were told to sit anywhere which is fine. Shortly after sitting down we got our water(my niece never received a straw until we asked), then we received the menu. As deciding what to order and after they took it, we received our main course, but never got our appetizers(until we asked about it but that's half the story). After finishing the main course, I waited about 10-15 mins and did not receive the appetizers or anyone checking on us, as we had the call button pressed. My Niece is 2 years old and one of the appetizers was for her and she started to get cranky because she was hungry, my sister-in-law had to take her daughter somewhere else to feed her.(What was for my Niece was the popcorn chicken which we never received.) I just wanted to pay for what we got and leave, so we requested the bill(which they can fast for). Asking for the bill of what we received and to cancel what we did not receive, the waiters went for their supervisor. Waited another 4-5 mins the supervisor brought out 2 of the 4 missing appetizers (3 appetizers and 1 stand alone rice burger)and shortly afterwards another person with 1 more appetizer(was still missing the last one that was for my Niece). The supervisor also gave us the bill for everything, and at this point I started to get irritated by the service not listening to what I asked for(the supervisor blamed the kitchen for this delay in food). As I tried to explain to the supervisor, they rolled their eyes and walked away, came back 2 mins later with an update bill. Tired of this I paid for it but then they pushed us to take the 3 items of food. As I was about to ask something she already left so used the leftover boxes she left and went to the reception table to ask a few questions and be giving the clear to go left. Sadly, I didn't care about the food, still baffled about receiving almost all of the other food we order with the bill at the same time. Even though we told them to cancel the remaining items and that we will pay for what we eat. If the supervisor was more professional and worked with us and listened to us. I would have given it another shot, but I'm never going back there again. The best service I got here was from the robot that delivered...
