We visited Mi Cocina with family, including three kids, and had one of the most disappointing dining experiences in a long time.
The wait times were insanely long from the very start. We ordered three spinach enchiladas, clearly requesting that one of them be made without mushrooms due to a mushroom allergy in the family. After waiting 45 minutes, the enchiladas finally came — but the “no mushroom” plate still had mushrooms. We reminded the server, who apologized and took the plate back, but it took another 30 minutes to get the corrected dish.
The food itself was bland — lacking salt and spice — but we didn’t even bring it up because wait times were already unbearable. Later, we ordered tacos, asking for them to be made “a bit spicy.” After another 45-minute wait, they came out extremely spicy — so much so that no one could take more than a bite. We left them untouched and mentioned it to the server.
When the bill came to X$, I asked to have the tacos removed since they were inedible. The server agreed and brought a “revised” bill — for X-1$ When I asked how removing a dish only reduced the bill by $1, he said they had included the tip themselves. This felt highly suspicious, but at that point the kids were exhausted and cranky, and we just paid and left.
Between the excessive wait times, incorrect orders, bland or overly spicy food, and billing practices that didn’t feel transparent, this was a truly...
Read moreWOW!!! Simply Amazing! First and foremost, I want to thank Baldo Muratalla at Mi Cocina for being a great host at Mi Cocina. You made our experience a memorable one and I thank you for taking the time to make us feel right at home. I came all the way from California to experience the Cowboys atmosphere and it did not disappoint. Baldo made sure to make us feel right at home and I keep telling my friends back in California how courteous and friendly Texans are. After all, I did live there for 7 years but Baldo is a great example of how he makes you feel as you were part of a Texan family and not simply a customer stopping by. Thank you Baldo for this great experience and I will definitely tell all my friends and colleagues about you and the great service you provided. YOU ROCK and Gracias!!!!
UPDATE - I don't usually go back to review again but this popped into my 1 year anniversary and wanted to still thank the whole team at Mi Cocina. I did not know it at the time our dinner at Mi Cocina would be one of the most memorable and last meals I would have with my mother but the experience I had with my mother this last year at this location will forever be instilled in my heart and in my memory. THANK YOU again for making this a great experience for both my mom and I as I know many of us have gone through a difficult time in 2020 but this memory I have with her gave me a...
Read moreI'm a long time devoted Mi Cocina customer. This was my first time at this location. It's close to home, and I'm a die hard Cowboys fan, so it's the perfect location for me! We went for a late, light, lunch. Considering its the holidays, I expect people to be on vacation, so there was a fair amount of people. It's one of the largest I've been to. I love the layout, there's section on both Winning & The Star. The bar had a cool inviting vibe, maybe next time. There's also an outdoor patio option.
The hostess immediately showed us to a table facing The Star Blvd. The restaurant was decorated for Christmas, it was really pretty inside. I've been away from Dallas for a few years, this was my first time back! Chips, salsa, and Guacamole arrived quickly after our drinks. I ordered my usual beef nachos El carbon, with green rice. My son got bacon wrapped shrimp. They were both as delicious as I remember. The gulf shrimp were incredible. The green rice tasted just as I remembered. Our waiter Octavio was one of the most attentive, I've ever had the pleasure of being served by. He was friendly, suggestive, quick, efficient, and charming. He treated us like guests, and I would love to dine in his section next time I'm back. He made our return dining experience a...
