Hidalgo's Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Gainesville

This place really stuck out to me! From the moment you pull up, all the artwork, decoration, and atmosphere really is an experience! The staff were very friendly and the manager herself, Jacelin, came to check on me and personally answered all my questions. The tortillas are HANDMADE in house. It's really hard to find Hispanic restaurants these days with handmade tortillas, so I was very impressed. The food quality here is next level. I ordered the enchiladas de mole and a taco de carnitas. They were both amazing. The mole wasn't too sweet like most places I've tried. Jacelin explained that it's her mother's special recipe. I'm definitely coming back for their tacos! The carnitas was some of the best I've had! And again, the handmade tortillas is just chef's kiss 🤌✨ Also a bonus is the chips and salsa on the house. Lots of restaurants have started to charge for this, but not Hidalgos! Their salsa is so fresh and has just the right amount of kick. Can't recommend this...

It’s the new kid on the block. There used to be another Mexican restaurant in this same location but I never tried it out. Decided to give this place a try as it’s a mile from my house and overall I would probably recommend it. I thought the food was delicious, the place is well decorated and the staff were friendly. I did unfortunately get a stomachache afterwards and the prices are (in my opinion) very steep, but oh well, this latter point is the case literally everywhere today. Hope this place does well as there are few Mexican options on this...

My new favorite Mexican restaurant in town! The remodel/design/decor was very well done. It’s very modern and I love the hand painted murals inside and outside the building. The food tastes amazing and more fresh than other Mexican restaurants in the area. Staff has been great the couple of times I have visited. My family agrees that the food is delicious!!
