In the two decades that I lived in the US, I have sampled Biriyani from various eateries around the US but the Biriyani from Savory Pot really stands out for 4 big reasons-
The concept: the Biriyani is frozen at a semi-cooked state and can be stored for a long time. When heated (or rather cooked, for the recommended time) it really rivals the authentic taste of good freshly prepared Biriyani. So itâs not really your typical frozen food.
The quality and quantity of ingredients: the quality of meat used is really good, especially the goat and is cooked to perfection. The quantity is usually more than the suggested number of people for different bowl sizes
The packaging and service: Firstly, the Biriyani comes in a real ceramic bowls with a plate making it table-ready for potluck parties- the bowls are yours after the party! Secondly, at least in certain parts of MD they deliver until late at night and it could be great option for passing travelers staying at hotels late at night when everything is closed. The plate provided in the bag helps in such situations.
Priced right: It comes to around 8-10$/person if you get the medium or large bowls- so pretty economical for students and biriyani addicts like me.
Below are some pics from one of the many times I ordered Savory Pot-Biriyani for potluck parties at work.

Read moreWe were craving for biryani and I was being lazy to cook at home. Most of the biryani we tried from nearby restaurants were too oily and too spicy. My husband was looking for new one on the internet and found Savory Pot Biryani. I called the number from the internet and talked to Shruti to place the order. She was very nice and welcoming. I enjoyed talking to her. We talked for a while and then I placed the order. Now, the biriyani. I ordered goat biriyani. It was perfectly awesome with a mouth-watering aroma. The basmati rice was soft but yet not broken into pieces; the meat was perfectly tender. I ate a lot without guilt because it was not greasy at all. The amount of oil was just right. Their serving idea of that nice fancy bowl is eco friendly and exceptional. The serving size is quite generous. You can keep the leftovers in the same bowl to heat next time you eat it. We have planned to order chicken biriyani next time. If anyone is looking for an authentic biriyani to order, I highly recommend Savory Pot Biryani. I loved...
Read moreI had a take out dinner of Biryani. - Goat The dish came fully frozen and had to be microwaved for approximately 4 minutes I was a little skeptical at first, about how it would taste, but was pleasantly surprised The Biryani or Safron rice with meat was very flavorful, and not too spicy. It can came in a reusable ceramic dish, in a reusable small freezer bag The aroma was not over powering and the dish had generous helping of goat meat. There was no raw smell, and the rice was moist and fresh The proof of a good dish is how quickly it is sought after, and after my third helping, my wife put a stop to it. It does not leave you with a bloated sensation, and I look forward to eating it again tomorrow At just about 12 dollars - which can feed two, Itâs a remarkable deal. Itâs one more entre to have for your Christmas...
