Sabor Azteca — Restaurant in Galena

We didn't see our server for the first ten minutes after we sat down. Once he came, it took another 10 minutes to get our drinks (water, iced tea, horchata--nothing complicated). When the food finally came out, it did not match the description on the menu. My quesadilla Verde had nothing verde on it. The chicken was sitting in a puddle of oil/water so the tortilla was soggy and gross. It was supposed to come with a sauce but it didn't and it contained peppers and onions which were not listed on the menu. The flavor was also very bland. Our server offered us more chips and we said yes but never brought them. He never came to check on us while we were eating either. About 30 minutes later he came and asked how everything was. I politely expressed my concerns and all he did was bus the table and walk away. No apology or anything. Not a word. We waited another 20 minutes to get the bill and we even asked a couple other employees if they could print it for us but nobody ever brought it so we left cash on the table and took off. We were so excited to eat outside, but wow, there were a ton of flies! It was honestly a little crazy – they were swarming our food, making it impossible to enjoy. We felt like we were in a scene from a comedy movie!

Our server seemed very upset, we started with a female that seemed very sad and then midway switched to a male.

We finally managed to get a server's attention and asked to move inside. They were super helpful and said yes, but then…they seemed to disappear! We ended up carrying our half-eaten plates inside ourselves, which wasn't exactly the smoothest transition after the whole fly ordeal.

Despite the fly invasion, I have to say the food was fantastic! Seriously, those chips were incredible, and our main courses were delicious – we really enjoyed the food itself.

It's just a shame the outdoor experience was so…buzzy (pun intended!). Maybe you could look into what's attracting so many flies outside? And maybe a little extra training for your team on handling these kinds of situations might help things run more smoothly for everyone.

My wife and I were there for the second time this year and loved it. We were there again this past Saturday night with 3 other couples and had a blast. The service was outstanding. Phillipe was our server and did a fantastic job serving 8 people. The chips just kept coming, and the guacamole did not disappoint. Everyone loved it, and only one person said the food was just above average. The others gave outstanding comments. My food had great flavor and adding the grilled jalapeno peppers was a treat. We are going back again this weekend with my kids and grandkids. We do not live in Galena, but have a vacation home in the territory and love coming in to town to eat and drink at the establishments.
