I’ve been coming to this location for about two years now, I like this location. It’s close to the area I work and it’s spacious. Most of the employees I’ve interacted with were really nice. The food is just ok, depending on who’s back there cooking and if he or she feels like being there that day.
I do have one problem with this City BBQ. The bathrooms are never clean. I didn’t notice it the first year because I would use the bathroom and wash my hands before I leave work for lunch (I have a thing about public restrooms). One day I needed to wash my hands and decided to use the public bathroom at City BBQ that day, it was bad, the smell, it was nasty, needless to say I didn’t eat there that day.
I didn’t want to stop eating there because of one bad experience, so a week later I decided to go back. This time I said to myself “don’t go near the bathrooms, just eat and leave”, crazy as that sounds, I had to do it this way. That’s what I did that day but another week later I decided to go back. I said, maybe if I go as soon as they open, I can go in the bathroom to hopefully satisfy this mind of mine.
City BBQ open at 11 a.m, I was there at 12 afternoon, the bathroom was worse. I honestly don’t understand. How you open at 11 and the bathroom is dirty, smelly and down right nasty at 12?! The truth is, the night crew didn’t clean and the morning crew didn’t clean either. All I could think about was how clean is the kitchen if the bathrooms are being neglected?!?
Think about it, the employees can choose not to eat the food at work but doing the course of their work day, they will have to use the bathroom, even if it’s just to wash their hands. You mean to tell me, the employees walk in the bathroom and see what shape the restroom is in and walk right back out after using that bathroom and walk right back in the kitchen and fix customers food? No sir…no ma’am I will take my money elsewhere. My last day eating there was two weeks ago, I wasn’t going to do this review but, I would love to hear what the manager thoughts are and how can this be resolved. Thanks for...
Read moreA bit disappointed in the location, I had high hopes for the look of this place. The food looked and seemed of good quality, but sadly as with any food that is meant to be served hot, ending up, room temperature at the table. We ordered pork BBQ, chicken, brisket and ribs for meat. The sides included collards, Mac and cheese and fries. Yes room temperature fries are not good. The collards were as unbelievable as it is, over seasoned to the point my wife couldn't eat them (Born and raised in the Carolinas, so yes we know what collards should taste like). The best side we tried was the Mac and cheese. As far as the meat went, the ribs were number one, followed by the brisket and chicken. Again a disappointment with something that should be, a given at a BBQ place, the BBQ. The BBQ was bland, I hate to say. The only thing saving the BBQ was the sauces that you could choose from. The basic sauce was a standard BBQ sauce for all around dipping. There was also a vinegar base sauce, the normal vinegar and pepper mixture. Still the BBQ needed help, because it was dry. Then we came to the bread, either cornbread or toast were the choices, and we had both. Strangely enough the toast won over the cornbread. Not because the toast was fantastic, but the cornbread was a bit off. The concept of a fast food BBQ location that can produce food like the folks that just down right love and have to be the best at it, is great. This location isn't it, unfortunately. Maybe they could be, but it will have to change, and for starters, hot food and talk to...

The seat-your-self and walk-up-to-order process was a little difficult to navigate with a family of 9, but honestly a family of 9 makes EVERYTHING a little difficult to navigate, so I’d hardly say that’s a critique.
The service staff were friendly and organized, a table to seat my large family was readily available, and the wait between order and eating was short and sweet, despite the enormous order of dine-in food we requested.
The food itself was exquisite to say the least! My wife and I got the chipotle bbq sandwich with baked mac, kids got a range of chicken legs, chicken tenders, fries, and hush puppies, and as soon as we got the trays of food, what was a loud and rowdy group became a quite group of food-memorized zombies, but instead of brains we were partaking in, it was the delicious food we had in front of us! The chicken legs were juicy and flavorful, the fried tenders were fried to golden perfection, the mac was like your grandma herself taught the staff to make her secret version she won’t tell the rest of the family, the chipotle bbq was a marvel in and of itself, the fries were seasoned beautifully… all be it a little soggy for my liking -but still had good flavor, and the hush puppies were the balls of deep fried corn bread they were suppose to be!
I know it seems I’m getting paid for this review, but honestly I don’t leave reviews often. This place genuinely impressed me enough to say that they deserve a shoutout and a thank you for your service to...
