This was one of my worst dining experiences. My family and I dined here August 28, 2020. It pains me to write this review as I try to remain positive. In this case, I have to be brutally honest - especially with COVID and the pandemic.
To start, although there is signage at the door that face masks are required; it was not being enforced. Two of the employees had masks covering their mouths but not their noses. Both appeared to be cooks, one at the hamburger grill and one at the fryer.
In addition, there were two customers, one without a face mask at all, and the other with a face mask pulled down below his chin exposing his mouth and nose. Both of the customers interacted with Five Guys members, and I believe with a manager. I don't know the specifics, but there seemed to be a dispute over their order. Neither customer was asked to put a mask on.
Some tables are blocked to help ensure distancing. However, the restaurant was so crowded and poorly organized that it was nearly impossible to maintain a safe distance. The flow of foot traffic, either after ordering, finding a table, or exiting, forced customers to pass within a foot of customers that were eating. In my opinion, it's possible to change the flow of foot traffic to help maintain distance by making the main entrance enter-only and making the side entrance exit-only. Also, over half of the tables should be taken out of the restaurant to give more room and encourage distancing.
Picking up the food order was also a mess! To many people too close together waiting for their food. The drink machines were a mess, with spilled beverages and no sight of anyone interested in keeping them clean. Maybe a better option to keep the area clear is to have an employee taking orders to the tables. Or encouraging customers to remain at their table until their order number is called.
The ONLY reason I am giving this review two stars is the food was good. We ordered cheeseburgers and fries and they were tasty.

Read moreWe’ve lived in Garner two years by this was our first time at this location. We used to go often in Cary. This one is by far cleaner. Spotless store! When we ordered our food he gave my 8 year old grandson a smaller menu to read the toppings better. So thoughtful! Love that they have Fanta Zero in their drink machine. Most places have closed their soda fountains off but this one didn’t worry me. It was spotless like everything else. All employees wore a mask and correctly. Our food was ready in about 4 minutes. They don’t have self serve ketchup and vinegar anymore. They give you empty ramekins in your bag along with all the packets you can handle. Seriously we ordered a regular fry and got about 15 ketchup and 10 vinegar packets. They also put a ramekin of seasoned salt in bag. Burger was amazing! I also noticed they do curbside delivery. Several times I saw staff take food out to cars in front. So that’s a nice feature. They have one staff constantly in lobby keeping things clean. Soon as we got up he was literally waiting to come sanitize. Top notch place on cleanliness and amazing food. During this time of pandemic that’s all you can ask for....

Working behind the counter was only one person! When it was my time to order 9 workers appeared from out back 2 of which were dancing around. When my order was ready and called my number we sat down only to find that the 2 cheeseburgers were both wrong. I brought them back and first I was told I grabbed the wrong bag and I said, NO…. You called my number and handed me the correct bag! Then I had to explain to one girl what was wrong and I handed her my receipt to show her. The whole crew was not paying attention, fooling around and clueless! As the orders now started backing up I continued to wait for my correct food, then standing next to me is another customer with the same issues! 10 minutes later and after watching them throw burgers on buns and all over I get my cheeseburgers. $38.00 for two cheeseburgers, a regular fry and 2 regular drinks and my burger was still messed up!
