Had a graven for some good BBQ. Saw the reviews and said let me try this place out. Noting that everyone's experience will be different based on different factors such as how you as a person cook your food and your knowledge of what food should or shouldn't taste like. So with that being said. I'm a cook, to be transparent. So let's jump in. Our server was great. Now to the place itself. Had a musty smell which was a turn off. Had cobwebs hanging from the wood above our table and in several other places. I ordered the sampler of meat, BBQ ribs, Chicken and Brisket. Sides were mac and cheese roasted corn on the cob, coleslaw. To be transparent I don't eat pork so my spouse was the rib eater. She didn't like the ribs, mainly the sauce that was on it. The corn was swimming in butter and you can tell that the corn was not fresh because of how gummy it was when you bite into it. Doesn't look like it was fire roasted it had more of a dark smoke look. Not from a grill. Not sure what they had it on but wasn't good. Not sure what they tried to do but it didn't work. Brisket needed a little more flavor. Had a good bark but was a bit gummy to chew.
Again I understand that restaurants can't season to my taste because everyone won't like a lot of flavor in their food because they have not been exposed to good seasoned food. The chicken leg quarter was really chared, smokey and dry. The coleslaw was pretty good. I ended up asking for a second helping. The sweet tea was good. Mac and cheese was ok.
Unfortunately my wife pushed her plate away and refused to eat any of it as she herself is a hell of a cook. In the end she ended up ordering a pepperoni pizza from next door. She enjoyed that. I would tell the owners to do a deep clean of the restaurant. Find another way to ensure that the chicken is still moist after leaving the grill. Overall I myself would not return. But again don't let my review disparage you from experiencing the place. Its...
Read moreLet me start off with saying this is my second time coming here, I was excited to come back because of our previous experiance but after today, I can't say I'll be back.
We were seated quickly as the restaurant was not busy, the host was quiet and didn't say a word to us coming or going. We sat for 15 minutes before the waitress asked us for a few more minutes before even taking a drink order. It had been near 20 minutes once we finally got a a drink order in and I was quite annoyed, we got the line of "oh I'm sorry I have a large table in the back. I'm Ann ill be taking care of you" we ordered our drinks she brought those and then. We were able to order food which was not the quality I remember, the bbq pulled pork nachos were good but cold, I ordered the supreme chicken sandwich and the bread was so soggy and greasy I couldn't pick it up, the collards were a travesty for a southern restaurant and the mac and cheese was worse than stouffers.
I honestly felt like more of an inconvenience to your restaurant by the way we were treated. No manager came by, the waitress was definitely having a bad day and not friendly, you could see her turn off and on and her fake "yes ma'am" when she could tell i was frustrated was not appreciated. When we left there were 4 employees at the host stand and not a SINGLE person said goodbye, or have a nice day, they just kept having their conversation.
There are cards on the table to review the restaurant but we weren't asked to fill it out or told that there's a box upfront to leave it in. I felt uncomfortable filling it out to leave it on the table since I didn't realize there was a box until I was...
Read moreI recently visited Bennett’s Pit BBQ with high expectations. While the service we received was top-notch, the food left a lot to be desired, particularly the BBQ.
From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with smiles and attentive staff. Our server was extremely courteous, helpful, and prompt, even during the restaurant's peak hours. The service alone deserves a five-star rating.
Our first order was the pulled pork nachos and they were indeed the highlight of the meal. The pork complemented the tangy sauce and crisp nachos. I'd definitely rate it a solid 4 out of 5.
However, our main course - the Texan sampler - was a letdown. We expected a smoky feast with the promise of chicken, sausage, pulled pork, ribs, and brisket, but sadly, that wasn't the case. Each meat seemed to lack the distinctive smoke flavor that BBQ lovers crave.
But the greatest letdown was indeed the brisket. As a BBQ fan, you always look forward to a perfectly smoked, tender brisket as the showstopper of your meal. Instead, what we received was a chewy, smokeless piece that required a knife to cut through - a far cry from the melt-in-your-mouth experience we anticipated. As someone who smokes meats at home, the absence of a well-developed smoke ring on the brisket was a disappointment.
Bennett’s Pit BBQ, unfortunately, falls short in delivering the authentic, flavorful BBQ experience we were hoping for. If you're looking for service with a smile and some decent nachos, this could be your place. But if you're looking for that unforgettable BBQ, particularly a stellar brisket, you may want to...
