Stopped in here for lunch and a cold beer after a big hike bc we needed an outdoor patio for our dogs. Even though this place is a local hang, and it was pretty obvious we were not, we got a warm reception by Taylor who took our order and hooked up our party of 6 immediately with ice cold drinks. We really had no idea what to expect with the limited menu- between us we tried about everything. OMG- BEST. Smash Burger. EVER. HUGE, cooked perfectly, not overdone, the biggest mess to eat proving its true the messier the better. Get the double fully loaded!! Fries were so hot and crunchy and that was such an unexpected bonus being served piping hot fries outside in cool weather. My son had the Philly cheesesteak and ate every bit, his girlfriend had the chicken wrap and 2 of us had chicken tenders. We are pretty picky, we owned a restaurant and just didn’t expect much. But everything was beyond our expectation and sitting by a babbling stream with the mountains as your backdrop- this will be a regular stop when coming out to visit family nearby. Mother’s saloon is a great bar option with loyal locals that’s equally well suited for a meal among friends if you’re staying in town, or just looking for an excellent meal right off I-70. Don’t let the dive bar exterior and chalkboard menu fool you, every dollar goes into the service, food, and drinks that they provide.

Their menu is limited with good reason, they have mastered the options and will wow you with any order. Their bar menu, on the other hand, is anything but limited, with numerous local beer options and a fully stocked selection of spirits and mixers. The order to serve time is under 15 minutes and is the best option in town for a quality meal without sacrificing any more roadtrip time than fast food in Idaho Springs.
