Restaurant Review: Scooter's BBQ in Georgetown, Colorado
If you find yourself cruising along I-70 and looking for a tasty pit stop, make sure to swing by Scooter's BBQ in Georgetown. This hidden gem has gained quite a reputation for its delicious barbecue offerings, and after my visit, I can definitely see why.
Let’s start with the star of the show: the pulled pork sandwich. Every bite is an explosion of flavor, featuring tender, smoky pork that melts in your mouth. Scooters has truly mastered the art of barbecue, serving it with a deliciously tangy sauce that perfectly complements the rich, smoky meat. It’s comfort food at its best—definitely a must-try!
If you’re in the mood for something different, the smoked chicken is another excellent choice. Cooked to perfection, the chicken boasts a beautiful smoky flavor with a juicy tenderness that keeps you coming back for more. Paired with one of their signature sauces, it’s a dish that certainly doesn’t disappoint.
Now, let's talk sides. The honey vinegar cole slaw at Scooter's is simply awesome. It offers a delightful crunch and a sweet tang that balances perfectly with the richness of the barbecue—an absolute must as a side! And let’s not overlook the generous portion of fries that accompany your meal. Crispy and golden, these fries are a satisfying addition that could easily be a meal on their own.
Scooter’s variety of sauces really shine, too. Each one has its own unique flavor profile, allowing you to customize your meal to suit your taste preferences. Whether you like it sweet, spicy, or tangy, there's a sauce for everyone.
In conclusion, if you’re driving on I-70, making the stop at Scooter's BBQ in Georgetown is a decision you won’t regret. The quality food, friendly atmosphere, and charming mountain backdrop make it a perfect place to unwind and indulge in some fantastic BBQ. Don’t miss out on the pulled pork sandwich or the smoked chicken—they're sure to leave...
Read moreBest new eatery in Clear Creek County, a cute smaller building off the roundabout in Georgetown. You'll know you're close by the intoxicating smells of the smoked meat cooking out back. I was able to try a bit of everything and am excited to give some highlights
For the sides the made to order onion rings are a must have. You will not find better, or fresher rings in the mountains. I was lucky enough to get the last cup of Mac and cheese and if you can get there early enough in the day you can't leave without it, a thick creamy homestyle Mac that I recommend throwing 8oz of the homemade smoked sausages into. The jalapeno potato salad was a smooth tangy salad with a satisfying spice that pairs well with their Carolina bbq and the chopped brisket.
Onto the main meats, we had a hard time deciding which was better between the chopped beef, and the pork. A solid base of flavour across the meats and the sauces bring it to a whole other level. My advice, get the combo and get both meats! They also have a rotating smoked sausage that I recommend asking about before making your final decision, the chef knows what they are doing.
Overall 10/10 experience with a kind and accomodating owner. The building itself is a bit small but does have indoor seating, and a patio. The owners have big plans for specials and unique meals as we move into the winter season and I really hope this move from Conifer works well for them. I for one look forward to being able to call myself a regular here! Don't forget the...
Read moreNever in my wildest dreams did I think I would find AMAZING Texas BBQ in a tiny shack-looking hut in the middle of the Rocky mountains. We were passing through Georgetown, stopped for gas and a couple of photos. Decided we should probably grab a quick bite to eat as well. We were at the Visitor Center and saw Scooter's across the street. Reviews looked good so we decided to take a gamble. WOOO!! What a win! BBQ sold by the pound (as it should be). Choice of brisket, chopped brisket, pulled pork, chicken, sausage...and one or two others. Sides are traditional - jalapeno potato salad, baked beans, slaw, or fries; also "premium options" of fried okra(!) and sweet potato fries. I got the chopped brisket sandwich with baked beans and some fries. My partner got the pulled pork sandwich with the potato salad and a bit of cornbread. We were both over the moon with our selections. Honestly, I haven't had brisket as wonderfully moist, Delicious, and beautifully smoked since I was in Austin two years ago. That meat is so good, I almost cried. Seriously. The pulled pork was equally delicious. Neither one NEEDED sauce but when you added it, the natural flavors just sang louder. I genuinely don't have enough room here to talk about all the items we ate because EVERYTHING was perfectly prepared, exceptionally executed, and divinely delicious. I only wish we lived closer so I could be a regular patron. Also, everyone working the counter and kitchen was equally wonderful. Y'all do...
