Saturday 4/17/2021 - Decided to go to Tony & Luigi's this evening (around 5:00). We had not dined there in a few months and decided to give them another try. Restaurant was close to full but no one waiting in line to be seated.
Once we entered the restaurant, we were asked if we had reservations and we did not. We were offered the option to sit outside and declined but immediately decided to go ahead and sit outside since they have the enclosed outdoor seating. We chose a table, out of the way of the entry and mainstream walk area right by an outdoor heater which wasn't lit. There were 3 other ladies at another table there. Not once did we see a waiter/waitress out there taking their order or bringing drinks/food. We waited patiently for our waiter/waitress when a man came out to light the heater so we decided to move over one table so we would not be near the heater. So......we waited and waited and then a couple of men came out and sat at the original table where we had sat. Immediately a waitress came out to take their order but no one for us. After a few minutes, another waitress came out with bread plates and silverware and acted really puzzled that there were only two of us. She asked if there were three of us. (We don't know if she was just behind or if she was one of those who was always confused about something.) Needless to say, she left and went back into the restaurant. After a few more minutes of no one to wait on us, we decided to leave. As we approached mid-restaurant, the confused waitress walked by us with bread plates and silverware, again looking very confused and another waitress was bringing drinks to the 3 ladies that were sitting there when we sat down. On our way out, a lady behind where the cash register was said "Thank you for coming in" or something to that effect and my husband told her that when they seated someone outside, they needed to make sure that there was wait staff to take care of them and she said "I'm so sorry" but didn't try to make amends for their inadequacy. We left with no further interaction.
He said he wished that he had asked for the manager but I don't think it would have made a bit of difference. We had eaten there a few times since moving to Georgetown last August but usually at 11:00 for the lunch meal as we like to go early to avoid the lunch rush. The quality of the food was nothing to rave about and very pricey for the portion size of the entrees. Basically the entrees are Ala Carte as none of the entrees come with a salad/soup only a couple of rolls with garlic butter. BUT THE SERVICE HAD ALWAYS BEEN VERY SLOW THE OTHER TIMES WE WERE THERE! That is the reason we had not returned to dine there and after this experience, can't say that we will...
ย ย ย Read moreSo I waited tables 33 years at Red Lobster and I came in your restaurant today with my husband and I ordered an appetizer, meatballs , and I asked the server for some Parmesan cheese maybe some olive oil I don't think she heard me but we also ordered calamari and my husband had eaten the whole order of calamari and meatballs and I had one little meatball sitting on a plate waiting for her to come back with that Parmesan cheese and when she finally came back it was cold and I asked her for the Parmesan cheese and olive oil and then she asked me if I wanted this sauce thing that comes with the bread or something you can get olive oil and Parmesan cheese in it I guess it's kind of like a pesto and she brought it back and my meatballs were cold by then but it definitely improved the meatball and I still wasn't quite ready to order because of menus huge and I just couldn't decide and I had my menu looking at it in my hands so obviously I'm not ready to order right? And she had asked me several times if I was ready and then I felt completely pressured so I just ordered these crabcakes they were not good and I thought well if I had some kind of extra sauce on them maybe they would be decent and I kept waiting for her to come back to the table and check on us but she never did And my husband was nearly through with all of his food and this was like 15 minutes later and she finally came back by and I told her I asked her if I could have some sauce like ranch or something and a to go box for the little bit of food my husband had left And she brought it out And we got our check and she had charged us for the sauce for my crabcake that I waited on for ever and ever for her to bring to the table will actually to check back with us to see how we were doing and I wouldn't mind if she had charged me for it except for I had to wait forever for her to come to the table just to check on us both times for the appetizer and for my crabcakes which were my so-called meal that I felt like I was pressured in to ordering and she would've gotten an even bigger tip if I had actually got to order a meal but I just went ahead and ordered whatever and of course it wasn't good and I know that it was only $.50 extra for each of the sauces she charged me extra for, it was just the point of having to wait and wait to get something that would actually make my food taste better. so I didn't have a very good experience my husband's food was pretty...
ย ย ย Read moreThe theme of this review should be never judge a book by its cover. The outside of the place looks rather dated and very rustic, but stepping inside is like stepping into the past. The soft lullabi playing of beautiful Italian music, pictures on the walls of various locations and a simple yet elegant seating area. We decided this time to put our trust in the server instead of trying to pick for ourselves. Like a true food connoisseur, she effortlessly recommended the stuffed mushrooms for an appetizer. She returned shortly with our drinks and complimentary bread followed by our mushrooms. Let me just say, our mouths were watering while eating them and although we wished there were more, we were more than happy so far. I decided to jump the gun a bit and ask about desserts to which I was told, fear not, I will take care of yall with the desserts. We asked for her recommendations on an entrรฉe and decided to run with it. I got the spinach and chicken fettuccine and my wife got the veal parmasean. This was above and beyond our expectations. The fettuccine was covered with delicious tender chicken pieces and crunchy bits of bacon with perfectly cooked fettuccine and a sauce that was thick enough to quench the Alfredo craving while not being overwhelming. Her veal was just as she expected, extremely tender and very flavorful. For the first time eating out, she offered me NO sample of her meal, this was obviously HERS. The portion size of both were more than required meaning you had enough to enjoy later. When it came time to get dessert, she wasn't kidding, the selection was unique but their presentation was on point! We decided on the Italian cream cake and was more than delighted. It had the appearance of carrot cake along with the consistency yet coated with coconut. This cake was very moist and an absolute treat!
I can not emphasize enough how excellent and timely the service was along with the highest quality for the food. I easily give this place 5 of 5 stars, too many...
