Ordered to go, first time (embarrassed to say) to get food from here.
When I went to pick it up I immediately noticed how similar of an environment to neighborhood New York restaurants. It was comforting to my brain nearly blew as I said I am definitely gonna come back here and eat in the restaurant
We ordered a extra large pepperoni and meatball. The crust is what I call Sicilian.
I was born in Brooklyn and this is the style you would see in the Italian neighborhood.
The pizza looked like it did when I was a kid growing up. There is a place named the spumoni garden in Brooklyn.
Its an An institution that has been around since the 1930s. Incredible place, grandma used to order Italian ices that were delivered to their brownstone by horse and buggy
An institution that has been around since the 1930s. The pizza that I purchased brought back memories when I looked at it and took in the aroma.
I have not seen that style in such a long time, kudos to you.
I would definitely have rated the Pizza five stars however I am a pepperoni freak. I don't believe anything else belongs on a pizza.
Though it was on the order it never made it to the pizza. That was a huge Bummer to me.
So just just meatball pizza it was. Yes I was bummed, seldom have I had a pizza with no pepperoni
Last thing we had was the Greek salad, which we both truly enjoyed. Their house dressing is very, very good and the greens on the salad were fresh, crisp, and it tasted great. Excellent salad
We had breadsticks which I did not try. My partner did and he truly enjoyed them.
Overall, it was a very take out dinner (make sure you tip the cooks). We will definitely be back to order takeout, but more importantly, to eat in the restaurant to experience...
Read moreNestled in a quaint corner, CJ's Italian Restaurant offers an eclectic dining experience that tantalizes taste buds with its flavorful creations. Despite the culinary delights, the service experience leaves a bit to be desired.
Upon entering the cozy establishment, it becomes apparent that CJ's packs a punch with its food offerings. The ambiance is inviting, and the aroma of Italian cuisine fills the air, setting the stage for a delightful dining experience.
However, the service aspect falls short of perfection. During a bustling evening, we encountered a lone waitress valiantly managing the rush. Though the staff, including the waitress, exuded friendliness and dedication, the strain of understaffing was evident. It took a considerable 20 minutes for our drink order to be taken, followed by another 15-minute wait for our food order.
Yet, despite the initial hiccup, perseverance paid off as we savored CJ's culinary delights. The cheesy bread, a delightful starter, teased our palates with its scrumptious blend of flavors. The main courses, the chicken pesto pasta, and the calzone, were nothing short of amazing. Each bite was a symphony of flavors, showcasing the restaurant's commitment to quality ingredients and expert preparation.
In conclusion, while CJ's Italian Restaurant may fall short in the service department on busy nights, the culinary experience more than compensates for any inconvenience. With a bit of patience, diners are rewarded with a gastronomic journey that leaves a lasting impression. If the establishment addresses its staffing challenges, it could easily earn a five-star rating from satisfied patrons...
Read moreI wish I could leave a negative star review. I have lived in glynn county for my whole life and have never heard of CJ's Italian restaurant until tonight...I wish I could go back to not knowing about this place. We went during dinner tonight 7/18. It was a little busy but we were able to find a table easily. After sitting for about 5 minutes, I saw a waiter walk by. I asked if we would be presented with menus he immediately barked back with that he was busy and someone would be with us. I had no clue how things worked since it was my first time there. Another customer heard him say that to me and she left almost instantly. We finally got a waitress to attend to us. We placed our order for drinks and food. We both ordered meatball penne pasta with a house salad. Never once did we receive refills on our drinks. We actually didn't see the waitress at our tables again until I asked for a box and the check. Overall the food was good but slightly mediocre. The meatballs were tasty but weren't cooked in the sauce like you would expect. Everything was just thrown together. The pasta was wet and it watered down the sauce. I really wanted to like my dinner tonight but the poor service really put a damper on the whole experience. I guess it's because it waitress didn't have a problem taking to customers at other tables while shunning us at ours. CJ's, I know you can do better. I really want to give you a second chance. Maybe I'll wait for winter to visit again when it isn't...
