This place had been my go-to for takeout for a while. I’d visited three or four times before, and each time, the wait was around 15-20 minutes, which was pretty okay with me. My orders were never large. However, my experience tonight was different. I walked in to place an order, only to be told I’d have to wait 35 minutes. I politely canceled and said I’d come back later. As I turned to leave, the person at the counter raised the issue that their Fridays and Saturdays are very busy and that I should’ve called ahead. I had no idea they were busier on those days. After all, I had been there before without any issues. I was not informed that it was necessary to call ahead either. Fair enough. Restaurants can get busy.
And while I do understand the kitchen might’ve been busy, the way the situation was handled was frustrating. My order was a single item (1 dosa) for one person. The staff member implied I was making a "big" order in front of the one customer dining there so they don’t look bad. He also said he had to "finish cooking for other people’s orders” before mine. Again, I understand that their kitchen might have been busy but I did not demand to be served regardless, which is why I canceled & turned to leave. I didn’t ask for nor expect any explanations either. I walked in to place an order, he said they were busy, so I politely declined & decided to leave. It’s that simple really. I wish he’d just left it at that. But instead, he seemed upset & irritated with me, which I do not understand. Was it the busy Friday that I should have known somehow or that it was necessary that I order ahead even when I wasn’t informed or that I didn’t make the order & wait the 35 minutes?? And then the clever attempt to portray that my order was “big”.
Overall, the experience was quite unpleasant, and I’ll have to reconsider returning...
Read moreWhen you first arrive at Kerala, it is very small and next to a gas station. At first, I was very skeptical about trying it and debating whether or not to go somewhere else. When you walk in, it isn't the cleanest place and not the nicest either. It is a hole in the wall with a couple of tables, but the food is really good. The lady at the front desk asked us how spicy we wanted it and gave us recommendations. I ordered a chicken tiki masala/buttered chicken with the spice level of 5 and it had a little kick to it but not an overwhelming one. The flavor was really good and the naan we ordered was also really good. We ordered the cumin rice as well with the white rice and it was pretty good too but it was too much rice for us to eat despite having 5 people(including myself). The food came out in paper bowls and it didn't look like a lot of food. Though when I started to reach the end, it was filling. The prices of most of the food on the menu went up(my buttered chicken was around $17), though they give you a decent amount. I would recommend this place if you are looking for a good Indian restaurant and if you don't mind the restaurant not being too clean. The only problem I have is the look of...
Read moreWhen I stepped into the restaurant, I was aghast. I looked around and was in awe when I saw the words of God plastered on the walls. An Indian restaurant plus Christianity!! I went to the counter to order my food, and the server and I began talking about Jesus. Oh! The Joy that filled my soul! I ordered my favorite dish, chicken tikka masala with coconut rice and garlic naan bread, and went to sit at the table. My food didn’t take long to come. When my food was placed on the table, my eyes judged it before my mouth did, and it didn’t disappoint me. I enjoyed my meal to the fullest. The flavor of the food was very robust and was bouncing with deliciousness in my mouth. Customer service was a 15/10. I got fed spiritually and physically. What else could top that!!
Also, while waiting to order my food, the server was speaking to another Indian brother. Although they were speaking in their native language, I knew that the server was telling the customer about Jesus. That instance brought me to Mark 16:15. As disciples of Jesus Christ, we are to preach the gospel to everyone—EVERYONE!!
Jesus loves you and is ready to give you a new life. All you must do...
