Tried this place yesterday for the first time, and I love the ambience in the atmosphere of the restaurant. I like the vibe and wish that they offered coffee to go with the desserts they served.
The food was OK for me. I had the Portabella sandwich, with a bowl of the tomato basil soup. My daughter had the avocado turkey sandwich with a side of pasta salad. I also got a small Greek salad which was almost 8 dollars.
They had a little self-serve area that I really liked offering bread and butter, pickle slices, Parmesan cheese, jalapeños, banana, peppers, croutons, and roasted garlic cloves. This offering is a very nice touch in the presentation was spot on and very inviting. The tomato soup had great flavor, especially with the addition of the Parmesan cheese. I would order it again. The portobello sandwich was OK. I tasted the pesto more than anything else in the sandwich. Very little peppers. The Greek salad was definitely not worth the money. The dressing was so overpowering and didn’t honestly have a great flavor to me. There was hardly any feta cheese. Overall a lot of oregano in the dressing and a very oily and wilted. I don’t recommend it.
My daughter sandwich was decent. She said it was not the greatest. She ate it because she was hungry. The pasta salad is a definite, no no. It was very oily and had no flavor whatsoever-super bland not even pepper. We asked for a different dressing, but we only got a cup of oil which is the dressing they use for the pasta salad. Even one of the employees stated that the pasta salad did not taste right.. but proceeded to give me a cup of oil which is the dressing for the pasta salad. Just stay clear of that.
I would not be returning any time soon. If I do return, it would definitely be for the tomato basil soup and the complementary pickles. For all of that we paid $42 and some change-pricey, but not...
Read moreI hate to leave a bad review, but the staff was incredibly rude to my husband, myself, as well as the older couple seated behind us. Tuesday night (8/28) was our first visit and we had heard great things about the food. When I received my food I realized it was missing an ingredient and my husband went to ask for it. He said it was missing, and the response was, "Oh, did you want that?" He said yes and 15 minutes later after my family had finished their meals, I received my sandwich and was told that I ordered the wrong item. I showed my receipt where it had the correct item, and was again told, "Well, it is similar to something else on the menu so that is why it was missing ingredients." Again, being told that I was wrong in some way.
At this point I ask for a box as my family is ready to leave. I watch a different server come up to the table behind us- an older couple- and try and give them 3 kids meals. To which they responded, "sorry, but this ins't what we ordered." And they too were met with frustration from the server who tried to have them keep the kids meals instead of the sandwiches they ordered. The food was really fine, but I was so turned off by the staff. When they weren't being rude, they all sat together at one of the tables up front on the phones. I would encourage training for your...
Read moreWe discovered the Newks chain in Louisiana and loved it and have eaten at several through our travels. Loved the fresh ingredients and didn’t mind the serve-yourself atmosphere, so we were excited to find this one opened near our home.
EXCEPT this one has misleading and/or FALSE ADVERTISING. Newks has a big selection anyway, but this location had a special sign up called “Better For You Pairings” next to the regular menu board. The sign said you choose one entree and one side and listed all the options. When my husband ordered he was told that the soup he ordered from that special sign was not available, only the soups listed on the main menu board as daily soups. Then why bother listing the soups on the special pairings board if they are not all available with a pairing order? Very misleading. Had to step out of line and go back to the menu to pick out new items to order and then get back in line. And the teens behind the counter had no clue why the pairings special would list so many soups when only the 4 soups of the day from the main menu were available — they just seemed miffed that we had started an order that they had to cancel. Such a shame because we...
